El Paso, TX – Shannon McGauley, cofounder of the Original Texas Minutemen Corp., made a surprise announcement as to the TxMinutemen Border Watch in the Fabens, Ft. Hancock area. The Border Watch that was announced in early July was planned for the entire month of October.

Today McGauley announced that the Border Watch will be extended until April 2006. Roving patrols will begin in November and continue until April. This will help the local residents and aid local law enforcement. So far, the early data shows that the TxMinutemen have cut the border crossings by more than half in their patrol area.

McGauley also gives great credit to very responsive Border Patrol agents and the vigilant El Paso Sheriff’s department. Shannon’s comments about the Border Patrol and Sheriff’s personnel were that “The TxMinutemen could not have accomplished very much without their help, quick response, and insistence on keeping to the exact letter of Texas law.”

McGauley went on to explain that well before the October Border Watch the El Paso Sheriff Samaniego’s office was directed to give Shannon a printout of specific Texas laws and reminded the Minutemen that they must stay well within those guidelines. The Sheriff was very clear that negative consequences would follow any deviation from the law.

The Original Texas Minutemen will return to their standard Border Watch mode in April 2006 in the Fabens, Ft. Hancock area.

All patriots are invited to join www.TxMinutemen.com and participate in The April Border Watch. All can volunteer, at no cost, with the understanding that all laws will be obeyed. Volunteers and donations are needed and welcome.
