...a flap between Vallely and Joe Wilson.
Last week, Paul Vallely told me on my radio show that, in the spring of 2002, he recalls Wilson boasting of his wife as a "CIA desk officer"
in the green room at FNC in Washington DC.

"This is slanderous," Wilson wrote. "I never appeared on tv before at least July 2002

Somebody's memory or ability to distinguish one year from another is faulty. I sure hope it is not Gen Vallely who is confused; or "spring" and "july" can be meshed.

Yes, I certainly hope Vallely has his dates right -- especially against Joe Wilson's claim that he didn't even appear on TV in the spring of 2003...... but I wouldn't be at all surprised to find Wilson is a fantasist on this as in many other matters. We do know that Wilson made several public appearances before lecture audiences from Oct. 2002 to Feb. 2003 and wrote a couple of op-eds before the war about Iraq policy, etc. (he was anti-war and supported what he called "agressive inspections" against Saddam.... though what exactly we were supposed to do when Saddam once again failed to cooperate with inspectors, Wilson never did seem to make clear).

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Wilson HAD been invited to make TV talk-show appearances in early 2003 since he had been putting himself out in the public as a supposed expert, but I sure do hope Vallely has his dates right and that Wilson WAS in fact in the same TV green rooms as Vallely in the spring of 2003 and not just some months later..... surely someone at FOX News can track down the bare facts of when/if Vallely and Wilson appeared on the same shows together?

whoops, just realized that the redstate column is talking about spring 2002 and I thought we were talking about spring 2003.... hope I'm the only one who mixed up the dates and not General Vallely! But did Vallely say "spring 2002" or "spring 2003"??? It's possible that he has things straight and it's WND or Redstate that's mixing things up. They'd all better have their ducks in a row if it comes to a legal battle (though I strongly doubt that Joe Wilson would dare to face a rigorous discovery process in any legal battle - he's got too many skeletons in these matters).

In face, maybe the solution to this nightmare is for some extremely well-funded person(s) or group to try to force Joe Wilson into a legal/slander courtroom battle so that all the real facts can come out in a courtroom discovery process. The biggest problem is that Wilson (so far) can hide behind MSM ignorance and sloth, and only 'cooperate' with highly sympathetic reporters who give extremely one-sided accounts of everything, so no one ever gets to give him and his affairs a proper rectal exam.....
