CBS Jumps On The “Fitzgerald is a Good Guy” Bandwagon
NewsBusters ^ | 10/26/05 | Noel Sheppard

As the CIA leak investigation comes to a conclusion, America’s media have started to sell the public the man in the middle of the maelstrom, special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. Tonight, CBS News jumped on the bandwagon in a report filed by Jim Axelrod for “The Evening News” (video link to follow).

Like many such reports in the past week, Axelrod began by trying to dispel the notion that politics are in any way involved in this episode: “44-year-old Pat Fitzgerald, an intense and, by all accounts, apolitical prosecutor who's pursued mob bosses, crooked politicians, and Osama bin Laden like a pit bull with lockjaw.”

"If Judge Starr had a press conference where he looked that frightened and unsure of himself, it would have been punchline fodder for months."

I noticed that ,too.

"Deer in the headlights" look about him.

He's lucky he's going after balls deficient Republicans on a second string charge.

So are any people who defended Ken Starr but are bashing Fitzgerald without any proof that he's political.

There are plenty of reasons to bash Fitzcaraldo as evidenced to ANYONE who listened to his OVER 1 HOUR press conference (which appears to have been held to defend his decision to prosecute). He could just be an anal rententive pencil pusher trying to justify his 2 year investigation but the media has certainly taken up their role as Don Quixote's sidekick to help him slay windmills, er dragons.

Like I said, if he comes across as so unsure of himself, that's a very bad start.

"Why not just nickname him "Fitzcaraldo" after the character in Werner Herzog's movie..."

Maybe because smearing and indicting Reps. in this town isn't "Quixotic" but more like shooting ducks in a barell ;)

So by successfully prosecuting the 1993 WTC bombing, we made the world safe for the, what, 2001 bombing?

Well at least the 1993 bombers got executed for their horrible crime. Oh wait, they lived to see their attempt brought to successful conclusion.

Fitzgarulous has prosecuted 60 Republicans and only 2 democrats in his career. Of course he is fair and non - partisan.

Fitzhit ( I like this one),Fitzwrong.

They repeat their lies 24/7 but they don't have the power to pull another Watergate. This is not 1973.

Yes, and it is a plus for America. They MANAGED the news for so long, and had many duped -- but not any more. The new media is putting them out of business and they are not smart enough to drop their fanatic support of the Thugocrats because they do not see telling the truth, doing honest journalism as a way to sucsess -- the Clinton era was their final death blow -- the dark side of the force is all they are good for now.

If the left is going to characterize Joseph McCarthy as hunting "witches" (as per Arthur Miller's, The Crucible, which PRE-DATED McCarthy) when there REALLY WERE witches in the Crucible (girls dancing naked in the woods) and REALLY WERE communists in American institutions of government, production, and education, then I am going to need to see SOME kind of proof that ANY of the groundless smears that the left has painted on Republican have any merit.

Until then they are just calling windmills "dragons" or insisting that Dan Rather's naked partisan attack on the President during the election really "was" a groundbreaking report on some recently uncovered National Guard memos. The MSM wears no clothes.

Someday I will have to make some "glasses" like the resistance wore in "They Live".

I think when all is said and done many centuries from now, this will look like the way "the Church" controlled information centuries ago only now it is secular socialists dictating the agenda.

They are being exposed little by little but are fighting tooth and nail to save their grip on power and information.

We live in the Information Age. The only way to limit the truth is to make it criminal. Hate/thought crimes. Additionally there have been attempts to protect "journalists" under law (and where IS the constitutional protection against revealing sources?) and specifically target bloggers as well as put some international oversight on the internet (United Nations wants control of it).

The contrast between the way the MSM treats Fitzgerald and the way they treated Ken Starr speaks volumes. Fitzgerald is considered a hero while Starr was a right wing zealot out to get the president. It is so odious it makes me sick.

So Patrick Fitzgerald is a failure for not single-handedly eradicating al Qaeda worldwide?

You're deranged.
