In Defense of a FRiend

USA!

In Defense

Of a FRiend

TEXAS!

Ladies and gentlemen, please stand for our National Anthem

I Love Texas!

One of my good FRiends got beat up pretty good here recently on a couple of threads. Well, I know this man and feel compelled to stand up in his defense.

I don't know him just as a screen name on my monitor. I know the real person. I have been to his house, he has been to mine. Heck, he even has a set of keys to my place. He and his wife have fed me until I was about to pop.

Okay, so he won't ever win any style points from the debate club. And if he were my doctor, his bedside manner would probably cause me to strangle him with my IV tubing.

Why does he have keys to my home? So he can take care of my dog if I ever have trouble on the road and can't get back home. If you know how much I care about my dog, you will understand that is a huge compliment to this man. He has his own dogs, and I have seen how he loves and cherishes them. That characteristic carries a lot of weight.

He loves and respects his wife. They have been married for a gazillion years and have raised a couple of fine kids.

With our recent experience with hurricane Rita, he made many offers before, during and after to help those in need.

I recently had car trouble out of town and he was on the phone arranging trucks and trailers to get my Jeep back home.

If I am short on money he will feed me, buy me a beer or cover my gas to get me to a FReeper event.

This man loves his country and wants only the best for it.

I trust this man with my life. We don't agree on every issue, but what two people do? But, where the rubber meets the road, he will be there for me. And I will be there for him.

So I would bet you would nominate him to be dog catcher, knowing and trusting him so very well, knowing he will 'do the right thing'. Hmmm... I know someone else who is getting beat up by both friend and foe for thinking the same way.

Don't know your FRiend (guess I could search and figure it out), but he sounds upstanding. He can come walk my dog anytime he wants.

OK - Do I have to be nice to all rude people on the forum until we find out which one you are defending?

Well, okay, but can we include a "dripping sarcasm" tag?

I found the thread. I won't reveal your FRiend's name, but his debating style isn't too bad - I certainly wouldn't describe the outcome as a "squeaker." After comparing the arguments we could see whose were "weaker." Didn't even need a tie-"breaker." I'll bet your FRiend is a fine public speaker.
