Does anyone have a precise and correct definition of what an "Independent" means?
For instance, suppose I don't belong to any political party, but I always vote the GOP in elections. (This is what I do here in New Zealand: I don't officially join any party, but I'm a centre-right/conservative voter and I always vote the conservative parties in election.) In theory I should be counted as an "Independent" but it seems in much of the American MSMs/"punditries" the terms "Independents" don't apply if you lean on the GOP side.
Thanks in advance.

i have convictions and am and independent. To many 'conservatives' in general that is a contradiction, it's not personal or judgmental.
Nor is it a measure. Just plug your ears if you ever hear Rush for example, go off on 'independents,' you won't like it.

But since have you don't have an overall general sense of convictions... As opposed to your rigid "your wrong if you don't believe in my morality" views? I believe that was a very popular philosophy... in Nazi Germany about 75 years ago. Don't hate on someone because they use their mind.
