They gave a huge figure in gallons of gas the State could save by not using the buses. Well, they could save even more by ending public education altogether.

How absurd. Panic is our worst enemy. The Preparedness/Panic line is sometimes a very thin one to walk. Different people err on different sides.

yea I know. I was asking in a rhetorical tone. I will probably have to stay home from work and I really can't afford to do that. But I do appreciate the comment and will take care of him.

Not surprised that they'll want to relieve pressure on gas demand for almost exactly the same situation. Most people are still going to have to go to work AND find child care for the next two days. Plus such an announcement will cause people to panic for fear that gas is running out. Many suburbs and so-called ex-burbs are designed so that you must drive to get anywhere.

maybe folks won't panic to get gas this time around. Hmm, so you're into fantasies, huh?

I am sure all of he teachers gave their assignments for Monday and Tuesday ahead of time, plus most schools offer help with homework over the internet. Lesson plans are to be made available on the net as well. Wait until the teachers learn they can be replaced because of the internet.

It is more about the hundreds of thousands of gallons of gas used in the school buses. Don't school buses fill up from their municipality maintenance facilities? How often are they refilled? If the refilling is not daily, how does leaving the municipal gas unused help the rest of us?

Not only that, other than the fuel for buses, it probably won't do squat for dropping energy requirements. Dropping energy in one place almost always means a corresponding increase somewhere else. Exactly- now everyone will be home for Mon and Tues blasting their AC.

Yeah but our schools had large windows. They do not have that today. It would be like an oven especially the new ones here.

This is very stupid on Sonny's part. Whoever suggested the idea to him should be fired. Probably Jeb Bush. Jeb came out yesterday and warned Floridians to expect gas shortages in the state. Funny, how that tends to be selffulling prophecy isnt it?

Actually it been close to 90 degrees in the past week. It wouldn't be wise to have the children in school with no A/C. BTW, you could choose some better words to make your point.

Jeb Bush was on TV last night warning we are going to experience severe gas shortages for a few weeks in Florida. He said he is working on what might have to be done to get through the crisis. We get a lot of our gas from the Texas area via pipeline -- same as Georgia.
CNN is the loony toon channel, but glad you watch. Someone has to to report to us what the loons are saying.
So did CNN say we should have built more refineries?

Oh, I quite agree. What I'm talking about is the wholesale busing of an entire suburban county's school aged population as opposed to letting them walk to neighborhood schools. Buses should be a way of getting kids to school when necessary, not a means of correcting a real or imagined past inequity in schooling based on race. Just like the tax system should be solely an instrument for collecting the funds needed to handle government's legal and constitutional programs, not a way to social engineer the taxpayers' spending decisions.

Oh yeah, and the buses use diesel fuel, so that wont help most of us either...
And about the state gas tax moratoriam, while its nice for a while, we're going to see prices spike again when the tax is added back on October 1st. The government just needs to stay out of the laws of supply and demand.
If they can prove collusion between oil companies to keep the prices high, that is a legitimate place for them to intervene. Otherwise, BUTT OUT!

Oh no, it is a great middle name. Plus, I am guessing that your kid is a fine young man and not an annoying CNN anchor. Come to think of it, maybe that is the problem and not the name.
