When they tossed it back to Wolfgang Blitzer he said, " A VERY DISTURBING DEVELOPMENT." I think CNN stands for the Chickenlittle News Network. Their reporters and hosts are in a perpetual state of abject panic. (I guess with their ratings, I would be too...)

When I was a little girl, instead of Easter Break we had "Energy Conservation Week", which was a week off from school in February.

I live in a small town east of Atlanta. My 7 year old just walked in and gave me a note stating that there will be no school Monday, or Tuesday, due to the Govoner's orders.

The storm is expected to take out refinerys which will lead to gas shortages. It takes lots of gas to run school buses.

Actually it is a good idea. GA got hit hard by fuel spikes after Katrina. Not running school buses for two days statewide will lessen demand and help stabilize that initial spike. Wish Alabama would do the same thing.

The only thing about this is that this will cause a run on gas in Georgia.

Their reporters and hosts are in a perpetual state of abject panic I think Rush's girlfriend is the smartest person in front of the camera at CNN.
The rest are terribly ignorant of even the most basic facts.

There will be supply disruptions during and after Rita. This is prudent planning. Fully 25% of refined fuels come out of the Texas gulf ports. The yankee states would do well to follow his lead.

Shutting down schcools -- I can't think of a worse way to conserve energy.

So it's better that they stay home to run their ACs or go joyriding?

"Maybe they don't have enough fuel to run the school buses."
I think you are right. I saw "energy" and figured electricity. But on another board, they mentioned gasoline since gas spiked way up for a few days after Katrina. I figured the school district had some sort of fuel storage at distribution center. They must fill up at the local Shell station.

I wonder what he thinks when schools are closed for a week due to a Blizzard?? Growing up in Buffalo I am sure he prayed for them.

Why don't they just shut down the AC? That has to be 90% of their energy usage anyway. Hell, we never had A/C when I went to school anyway and we did fine. It is more about the hundreds of thousands of gallons of gas used in the school buses.
