I can't even remember if I pung it out....

I've been officially Over Whelmed lately.

Did you catch the action on this one? It's still going on and frankly, could use a little backup (there are a couple of stalwart freepers on there but the adversary is quite the word twister):

I knew of a small private school quite a few years ago that had very strict rules. Any kid that watched unacceptable TV programs (and what kind were spelled out to the parents) was asked to leave the school. The parents were glad to be able to send their kids to a school that had very high moral standards.

I can see your point, however, the girl cannot be allowed to advocate for the lifestyle while at school either. Being the tone of the article, my guess would be the "talking" she did was just that.

You cannot encourage sin in Christian schools.

exactly, her family she loves them, how is she to function in a Christian school, where the entire curriculum tells her her "moms" are an abomination? I don't see that as doing this girl any good. And they cannot make exceptions in church teaching for her.

I have trouble with the school's policy. There seems to be something missing here. I'm guessing we're not getting all the information about the school or the story.

Again, she spoke to the crowd, and while the article lends a liberal slant and doesn't say what she spoke about, it got her expelled. It doesn't take a genious to know what she talked to the crowd about.

my step daughter attended one of those in Arkansas. She was expelled for something very miner like going to a rated G movie.

She hasn't been to church since.

The kids who went to the school understood the rules and in general were accepting and understanding of them. I know a lot of the kids now that are grown up and have kids of their own, and they are very fond of their old teachers and have happy memories...

While there may be, they are no less sinning than a Christian who divorces without the churches guidelines followed, or a Christian who has a child without benefit of marriage vows. All will be reprimanded or counseled or denied admission to a Christian school, unless they were repentant.

Yes they do, however, sin is bad, others things are abominations.

I am not against strict private schools. I guess what I wrote gave that impression. It was just that particular situation that bothered me.

I have not been following this thread. I see there are a few as usual that think there is no such thing as right, or wrong.

Somewhere in the first 40 or so comments is a link to the San Luis Obispo newspaper article, which makes it a little clearer. Apparently the school found out about her home life after she talked (with another cheerleader) to a "crowd" at a game. It sounds as though she was perhaps defending her mother and mother's girlfriend; who knows. The final paragraph mentions, for some reason, a situation in the public school of a "lesbian" high school student suing the school department for suspending her because she wouldn't stop PDA with her girlfriend.

Odd how it was in that article; there may be some kind of connection.

I can understand both sides, kind of... anyone naturally would want the best for that girl. But kids raised in homosexual households have a lot of problems, one of which is confusion about their own sexuality. The link below has a lot of insight into homosexual parenting and what it does to children:

I can see both sides too. After all the reason people pay $$ to send their children to a private school is to keep them away from that mindset.

Ofcourse I care about the girl, and her family. Hearing the truth about where their lifestyle leads is the most loving thing a person can do for them.

"Paul made it perfectly clear, (see my quote from Scripture above) that you, as a Christian are to have fellowship (eating, etc) with unGodly people. By allowing the child to remain, the Church would not be obeying Scripture by associating with the two moms."

Would Paul advocate turning away "sinners" from attending the church? Would I be welcome to attend services at your church?

I have a suspicion that there is a LOT more to this story than is in the article. I have a suspicion that if the girl kept quiet about her "two mommies" she would still be in school. But to be in a school, of which the rules are no homosexual parents, and have to hide - that's no good either. Note that the article states she was expelled after speaking to a "crowd" at a game; it would be enlightening to know what was said, and by whom.

It's just another example of why homosexual parenting leads to problem after problem, and this is a small one compared to kids with sexual identity problems, more promiscuity, increased percentage of depression, drug use and so on. If you haven't yet, click the link I posted earlier about homosexual parenting - it just isn't healthy for children. Somewhere on FR is the testimony of a woman raised by a homosexual father and his live-in; she testified in Canada against "gay" marriage because of what it does to the children in those households.

In this situation there is no happy solution.

I mentioned that I know a lot of kids who went to that school and most of them are super great adults, many with children of their own.

I haven't had a TV in years. There's FR for news, books for knowledge, the world outside for exercise, people and animals for relating to, and all kinds of craft stuff/tools/musical instruments to learn on and have fun with and make things with.

Sitting on the couch with a remote in hand hoping that something decent will turn up to watch is not a happy way to live.
