From today's Terry Neal chat:
Manassas, Va.: Terry obvious [sic] Katrina has becomne a big racial issue. I am curious what your personal opinion is about it as an African American, do you think race was a factor in the poor federal response?
Terry Neal: This is something I've thought about a lot. You know, I covered the Bush campaign for the Post in 1999-2000. I had at least two long, off the record conversations with Bush about racial issues. We talked on the record, of course, and they led to stories that were published in the Post. But as is often the case, some of the most revealing conversations happen off the record. I'll say this. I don't think George W. Bush is in any way a racist, or really even racially insensitive. I believe he believes his conservative policies can help uplift poor people, minorities, etc. Now I'm neither endorsing, nor condemning his policies. But to me the term "racist" implies hatred or animosity. And I dont see that in Bush.
How kind. Next time he'll assure us that he doesn't think Bush beats his wife.
Notice the way the question was asked...
Who gives a dammmmmn what this jerk thinks?Could we just quit asking blacks if we are racist? And how racist? And "are we better now?" Yeesh.
He's just repeating the assertion like Canada's Chretien repeating "George Bush is not a moron. He is my friend." Just another way to put the name with the charge. WP is not fit to be fishwrap.
The Washington Post is the worst paper in the country.
Calling a Republican president a racist is a way to jump on the fears of people who see racism in anything and everything, and to keep them voting democrat, because as we all know, democrats CAN'T be racist. /s
I believe this guy, whoever he is, really does not think President Bush is racist.
I couldn't CARE LESS if you think Bush is a racist or not.
Perhaps you should be concerned if we think YOU are a racist.
This whole issue is such a load.
I don't think that Hillary and Bill Clinton are Stalinists, yet.
Maybe they should be concerned if WE think THEY are racists.
We're not the ones elevating leaders like Jesse, Sharpton and Farrakhan as people we look up to. Hypocrite cry-babies.
I give him credit for refusing to play the race card. It is far better than others have done...and it takes a certain amount of courage to stand against the media tide.
"I don't think that Hillary and Bill Clinton are Stalinists, yet."
disagree on Hillary.
Hillarys Secret War, The Clinton Conspiracy to Muzzle Internet Journalists, by Richard Poe, WND Books, 2004, p. 61
"By now [1969, when she entered Yale Law School], Hillary had acquired a number of hard-Left mentors. For instance, she met radical organizer Saul Alinsky and interviewed him for her senior thesis at Wellesley. Hillary took to heart Alynskys Machiavellian teachings, spelled out in his 1971 book Rules for Radicals. Alinsky urged activists to seek power at any cost. H recommended lying, bullying, intimidation, manipulation, and ruthless personal attack against ideological foes---tactics Hillary would later adopt as her own."
It's time to stop dignifying those types of comments and accusations with anything but contempt.
UnFrikkinBelievable.
Bush doesn't hate midgets either.
Geez and you guys wonder why more blacks dont stand up the likes of Jackson and Sharpton. A black reporter who covers the President for the Washington Post is asked by an idiot online whether he thinks the response to Katrina was impacted by race and the reporter flat out denies it and guys are attacking him for being racist. What a crock? Are you guys constantly looking for something to be offended by? Hope you enjoy your sorry sick lives.
Then why are you so concerned about it and so easily offended? Some doth protest too much.
Agreed. Good for him.
I certainly don't think he should be attacked for this statement. Good grief.
Let's get these good people back up on their feet and let's rebuild the entire area and let's make sure that people don't fall through the cracks.
God never closes a door without opening a window and President Bush is going to prop that window wide open for as many to get through as possible. Anyone who has eyes can see that.
In the wake of this disaster, there is an opportunity to help our fellow Americans get the job training they're going to need in order to function in a better world, and to make sure their children get proper schooling instead of what they have been getting. For years we've talked about "teaching a man to fish", OK, now's the time. Let's get out there and start teaching.
Then why are you so concerned about it and so easily offended? Some doth protest too much.
Ok, so if people malign you with false accusations, if you get offended and protest it must be because you are guilty?
How childish.
This is typical of leftist smear tactics.
