Bush made 2 mistakes from the very beginning.

1) should have cleaned house from the Clinton hold overs.

2) During press conferences or the daily press briefing, Press secretary should have made it obvious from the beginning that that screaming, jumping, abusive language would not be tolerated.

They don't respect him because he didn't demand it.

They still may not respect him but they would behave during interviews or they would have had their press passes pulled.
