Hello Fellow Freepers,

I am posting this because forum is the biggest, most active place I can think of to help out a fellow Texan and the Katrina survivors at the same time. I posting this letter from fellow Texan Scott Chaffin, a gentleman who lives just up the way from on the rambling river known as "the Arms of God", El Brazos de Dios, who would like to utilize the resources he has at his "tiny bidness." He writes :

Dear Sweet, Clean Texas Members of the TFG Blogroll,

You might or might not know that I have a Tiny Bidness down on the Brazos River which contains within it some 21 virtually unused RV hookups. I'm opening them up foSince this blog is the biggest horn I can toot at this time, I am going to post this letter from fellow Texan Scott Chaffin, a gentleman who lives just up the way from on the rambling river known as "the Arms of God", El Brazos de Dios, who would like to utilize the resources he has at his "tiny bidness." He writes : r temporary housing requirements forvictims of that Hurricane Katrina. Problem is, I ain't gots no RVs. That's where you come in. Being Texans, you probably know some hayseed (maybe family, maybe not) who owns an RV that will be parked for the next few months as we slip into fall and winter. I'm looking for donations of those idle RVs for temporary housing at my place.

So...I would greatly appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to people through your blogs or through your personal network. You don't need to link to The Fat Guy.* I've got a notice up on the Tiny Bidness website with contact information that can be linked: Bucks on the Brazos

I'm also working with a couple of other folks around the nation to pull together a national dealio of this sort. National attention to this very easy and cheap method of semi-permanent housing will be important in the long run, I think. But, there's no reason not to start here at home, and learn from it.

Please feel free to forward this on to your pards, too. But don't do a REPLY ALL...some people don't like that.

Yours in Waylon,
Scott Chaffin

GRRRRRRR You know...I went through the checks and made darn sure everything was okay, and it still came out FUBAR.

Here is the letter again:

What a GREAT idea! The inventativeness of some people is amazing. (Of course if I had an empty lot of RV hookups and drove by 3 empty RV's on my way to the mailbox I'm hoping I'd pick up on the idea too!)

I'll bet that a whole bunch of unused airliners that you can pick up for next to nothing are a better idea to be put on his lot. Except they have a tendancy of becoming permanent homesteads after the wheels and axles go missing.

No but I know a bank president who is here with his entire family staying with his sister and her family. He needs a place for them while he returns to put his bank and home in order. I suspect he could buy you a couple of times and might be a very good tenet. Then again he might just say to heck with your negative attitude .......

CONTACT HIM - maybe he can coordinate with you!

He is a good blog-friend, and my hubby and I are not in a position to donate much beyond clothing, perishables, and other supplies. I plan to donate blood this week. But we are in a very tight hole as far as finances are concerned, and feel like we couldnt do much better than 10.00 at this point. Things will be getting better, but at this time, the items we do have are all we have to give. Figured spreading the word about my blog-friend would be the next best thing since he does have marvelous resources.

His business was featured in some Sporting magazine about a year ago...saw the pictures and everything...he has a beautiful little spot.
