When asked where the blame should begin for the rescue/relief problems in New Orleans, MSNBC analyst Don Goure made the point that it was the city that directed people to go the Superdome and to the convention center.
Well, that won't get replayed in the MSM anymore!
Nor will we focus on why the Hellllll the governor of LA did not call out her national guard? It's a state guard!

And it was also the city that allowed it to turn into a "Lord of the Flies" scenario.
chirs matthews also spent a few hours this afternoon talking about how this should be used against bush becasue he cant warp himself in the flag anymore and all the frustration since 9/11 should be directed at him now. It was basically a democratic strategy session.
Now anyone notice how most of the coverage and chaos is limoted to NO and barely anything is coming out of the others states/areas.
How many times have you heard the liberal mayor of NO curse and sear about Bush, now how many times have you hear from any other mayors.
They've been interviewing him throughout the day and he has had NOTHING good to say about the city/state officials of Louisiana.
After each segment with him the interviewer follows up with a shot at the federal side.
Rather entertaining.

For sure. Both the governor and the mayor should be fully exposed for their incompetency. At the same time, they should account for the billions in FEMA money that was pumped into LA for disaster preparedness??? Hmmmm ???
well they also knew it was going to flood.
Out of town? the mayor had the transportation assets available prior to the hurricane; he apparently doesn't now.

Well, they should have provided adequate security so kids werent getting raped in the superdome that would have been a start...

They were told they would have transportation, security, etc., which the city never delivered. Basically dumped them, especially at the convention center.
not the levee, i am talking about the roof not being able to take the storm and the rain coming in. Part of the chaos was the fact the people were fleeing into the stands becasue the inside of teh stadium flooded.
The city was fully aware of the fact that they had a mass of drug addicted criminals who would seek shelter there- because those are the exact people who don't have cars. The city poured that element in with innocent poor families and tourists and sick elderly- if they were paying attention and had thought about it ahead of time- they would have predicted this disaster to the T.I'm not sure what the alternatives were - I didn't hear anybody criticize the choice of the Superdome except for people worried the roof would not hold.
Also I thought FEMA actually set up the shelter and I remember those were national guard troops searching everyone before they were allowed in.
NO, they needed an effective evacuation plan. Like using the several hundred schoolbuses that lay unused, or getting those with no other way out by rail, or by remedying any of the hundred other ways their civil preparedness was found lacking.

Totally out of the city to higher ground that is not below sea level.
Computer models have predicted this nightmare scenario for years.
Days before Katrina hit, the City of New Orleans should have been mobilizing its entire bus fleet, and any other bus fleet they could beg or borrow, to get everyone of of New Orleans and onto higher ground before it was too late.
Whenever a hurricane hits Miami, my aunt moves inland along with every other person who lives on dangerously exposed Key Biscayne.
