I have two weeks of time that I have managed to clear out, does anyone know where I can find out which organizations need warm bodies in the effected areas down south?
Does anyone have any links to web sites organizing volunteer efforts or any suggestions?
Thanks Freepers!
I know the Rec Cross was holding "crash courses" in Virginia for relief workers.
Contact your local office. Or, contact your local office of the Salvation Army.
Contact the Salvation Army, Red Cross (your area) and maybe Catholic Relief Services. I would bet they tell you not to go "down south" and become yet another dislocated human body that needs food water and shelter...but to stay home and help volunteer to man phones for incoming donations and information passing between individuals and agencies..
For Houston area volunteers:

Before you go you had better get some booster shots for all known human diseases ,they are going to have plague in the sunken city in short order and a bullet proof vest is another good idea .
I am much impressed with your humanity but be aware that its is and will get very dangerous and unhealthy in Mississippi and Alabama with desperate looters and dead bodies floating around .
I read some where that last flood they had that one of the biggest problem was snakes competing for dry land with humans, they the snakes, don't much like salt water , Moccasins are mean critters and they swim very well.
Thanks for the suggestions folks!
I take three days of classes next week and then leave for a 30 day deployment with the Red Cross.
God Bless and help where you can.
VERY funny and creative tagline!!!!!!!!!!!
