Agreed

I consider it to be the single most overpraised science fiction film of all time.

It's definitely up there. It does have company, though. ;)

I always wished the two versions could be magically combined somehow, as while I liked both, neither one quite got the book right. Also despised how Carp just left it open for a sequel that never materialized. Yeah, sorry, I like closure.
