B5 was good. DS9 showed moments, but they never really understood or were able to keep the story arc going well. Although I have a great fondness for Garick...he was probably my fav of the DS9 cast. I also enjoyed the wild romance between Jadzia and Worf...ah well. A might have been great.

Looks like my list:

Add "Earth vs Flying Saucers", "Them", "20 Million Miles to Earth" and "The Thing From Another Planet"

Well I think B5 broke the Trek monopoly in the sci-fi world.

I did see the The Thing From Another Planet on TCM... It was not bad at all...

DS-9 Andrew "Andy" Robinson (Dirty Harry The Scorpio Killer)

Hardware Wars, Bambi meets Godzilla, and the best of 1995 "Ghost in the Shell"

Apropos of nothing... do you happen to remember what the time travel device was called on the original "My Favorite Martian" (the TV series). Seems like it was STBBS or SBTTS or something, and it's been buggin' me.

"Killer Clowns from Outer Space" was supposed to be funny I think, but I just found it kinda bad. Don't think I saw Judi Brown's EGAE. Y'know, "Baron Von Munchausen" was more or less science fiction, in the vein of Jules Verne.

I saw "Planet of the Apes" about fifteen times when it came out in 1968.

I remember many a Saturday afternoon in the late fifties, early sixties, watching black and white sci fi films on a small TV screen: starships invading, mobs running thru the streets screaming. I'm tellin' ya, Saturday daytime TV just isn't what it used ta be!

Star Trek IV. Although campy, it suggests 'civilization,' is not a bad word. Unlike most sci-fi crap, you don't feel denegrated to be human. Whales are more important than locusts. I liked it...but the number 1 star trek movie was II the Wrath of Kahn. if Star Wars is your meat..... Empire Strikes back...dark and good....of the 3 new entries....the last one was the only one that really grabbed me. The Revenge of the Sith.

I agree about Killer Clowns. I didn't see what the fascination was.

While we're thinking about Baron von Munchausen, honorable mention (at least in my book) to Time Bandits (somewhere treading the ground between sf and fantasy, but I liked it!)

My dad loved Tremors, but I thought it was kind of stupid, but a lot more fun than Killer Clowns. too...a lot of bad horror stories are told in an sf motif....

And then there was My Science Experiment....

I always wished the two versions could be magically combined somehow, as while I liked both, neither one quite got the book right. Also despised how Carp just left it open for a sequel that never materialized. Yeah, sorry, I like closure.

Another good SciFi flix: Starship Troopers

"Mobile Infantry" Dittos! Great parallels to our current fight against the Islamo-fascist "bugs," IMHO.

I had forgotton about Things to Come...I remember watching it several times as a small kid.

ON a Wells moment, there are all the variations on the Time Machine out there. I sort of like Time After Time better than some of the others, although I have vivid memories of seeing the 1960 version at the theater.

There was a Spielberg SF spoof in which the superimposed cartoon aliens wound up killing everyone (including Jack Nicholson in his role as President of the US, if memory serves). That sucked. There was an amusing movie in which some alien gang that couldn't shoot straight tries to conquer the Earth, but alas arrives on Halloween, so no one will take them seriously. Can't remember either title.

The Jack Nicholson film was Invasion of Mars. I saw the other film, but can't remember what it was called, either.

I remember seeing Godzilla movies in the theaters in the 50's or early 60's. And "Attack of the 50 foot Woman."
