(Mrs. DFU was watching a dance show tonight and I thought I heard something strange. A Toyota commercial had a slow version of what I thought to be "What do you do with a drunken sailor." I had to check. Sure enough.) ======================================================================
FROM SLARTY'S WORLD --
On the drive home today I heard an ad for a "Toyota Sales Event." The ad featured an announcer talking about all the great deals that were happening over the weekend. In the background a brass band played what sounded like a march. As the ad continued, I recognized the tune. They were playing the sea chantey, "What do you do with a drunken sailor." It cracked me up! I wish I could find a clip of the ad, I have never heard such a distinguished version of the song! In case you are unfamiliar with the tune, here is a link. The Great Big Sea do a pretty good version of the tune. The Kingston Trio did a version of the folk classic as well.

NFL Films does a pretty good version of the Drunken Sailor tune.
But I've never heard it on a car commercial. It may be something subliminal for a certain drunken senator. Look for Ted to be driving a Camry or Solara soon.
I heard that ad on KFI and wondered if the people who picked the grand music for the ad didn't realize what it was!
Easy Answer,
Buy him a Beer and offer a ride back to the Ship.
(I spent way too many lonely days and nights in San Diego, I have dispised the place for Years, even though I did finally meet Mrs TT there, but she was from and lived in Northern CA)
BRAC needs to take into account the crappy way that San Diego treats the Military, I still hate the place.

Drunken sailor?
First smart thing I ever say that guy do.
say = saw
Yes, I agree. Sam Spence's version from NFL Films is the best.
Wow! I can't believe someone actually used my site as a source, hmmm, I guess I have not been as slarty as I should have been.
I accidentally bumped into it while doing a search on Toyota and drunken sailor.
He's looking down at his own pants, though....
