A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called on law enforcement authorities to treat an assault this morning on a Virginia Muslim woman as a hate crime.
The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reported that a 23-year-old Muslim woman, who is 8 months pregnant and wears and Islamic head scarf, said she was out for her morning walk in Arlington, Va., when three white men in a pick-up truck began screaming anti-Muslim and racist slurs at her. According to the victim, the men shouted, "You terrorist b- tch, go back to your country. . .You n-gger b-tch." (The woman is African-American.)
The truck drove away and then returned as the woman continued on her walk. One of the men, who was wearing military-style clothing, allegedly got out of the vehicle and began shoving the woman and preventing her from moving away. During the assault, he shouted, "You terrorist b-tch. . . We're going to kick you're a- s. . . you're nothing." The other men then called the attacker back to the truck and it sped off.
"We believe these types of incidents are the direct result of the growing level of virulent anti-Muslim rhetoric Americans are exposed to on the Internet, in newspaper editorial pages and on radio talk shows," said CAIR Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. "Our nation's political and religious leaders must begin to challenge Islamophobic hate-mongers."
I almost believed this story, but she didn't mention seeing a window sticker of Calvin whizzing on the number "24".
Seems to me, there's a free-market opportnity here..manufacturing burkas for pregnant Muslim women with a "Baby on Board" sign applicaed on it..

I don't condone assults on pregnant women. That being said, there is a solution Mr. Hooper. There are plenty of islamic republics in the world. Fortunately, the US is not one, (currently).

Well, assuming it's true, there's just no excuse for that behavior and the perps need to be tracked down and punished. But if it turns out to be another Tawanna Brawley, she needs punishment as well, and Cair needs to realize that backing a Tawanna will only create tension and violence where it doesn't necessarily exist.
"Never mind the thousand of bombings by Islamic radicals, we need to investigate made up, sorry, I mean no witness verbal harassment crimes."
Besides, they get angry when you beat their women. That's her husband's job!
You're right. The article doesn't say if she was married or single. If single, and pregnant, she'd be stoned.

If (and I do say IF) this story is true, this was a reprehensible, cowardly act perpetrated by total loser. ANY piece of filth that would do something like this to a pregnant woman, ANY pregnant woman, needs to be found and punished as severly as the law will allow.
However, on reading this, my BS detector is going off full strength.

Anyone who buys this tripe from CAIR is incredibly ill informed.
If anyone were assaulted like this they would make a police report. There is none.
If CAIR wants people to take this seriously: Where did this occur in Arlington? What time? Has a police report been filed? Who is the victim?
