He spends much of his time dissecting O'Reilly's various boobs and blunders, but the thing is, he repeats and repeats and repeats the stuff over and over again as if we hadn't got the point in the first place.
That's his main problem. He can't stand on his own, he's always had to latch on to someone like Rush or O'Reilly. Plus, I'm not sure what O'Reilly's ratings are, but I was under the impression they were pretty mediocre campared to Rush or Sean. Who wants to hear a parody of a mediocre show day after day?

"It looks like Franken is going the way of Jim Hightower."
Oh, fine, thanks for bringing up THAT bloviating misbegotten monument to faux-folksy irrationality.
The Unholy Trinity of Jim Hightower, Molly Ivins and John Henry Faulk come as close as anyone can of making Texans ashamed of being from this state.

I used to listen to Hightower when he had his weekend show. I think he was distributed or otherwise affiliated with ABC radio and the week after Disney bought ABC, Hightower went on a rage about "the Mouse." My memory is hazy but I think that was a Saturday and when I tuned in Sunday, he was gone!
Don't cross "the Mouse!"

For the heck of it I tuned into his show a few days after the election and he and some "expert" were analyzing how the Ohio votes were probably miscounted. It was incredibly boring.
Before Air America made its debut in Boston, "stunting" was done (in radio, before a station debuts its new
format, they sometimes play a loop of something to grab
people's attention, known as "stunting". Boston's "stunting" for its new AAR affiliates included
songs like "Revolution" and "Rockin' in a Free World"--
AND bits of Franken's book-on-tape. "Chapter 37:
What Is A Liar?" Snooze.
To: PJ-Comix
Maybe it`s just me, but I think we`re in serious, deep doo-doo, the kind that requires some heavy-duty action a few notches above Franken`s exercise in self-indulgence. Oh, this has been a couple of good weeks, hasn't it? My beeber is series-ly stuned, I men it.

And they had such high hopes! Remember when they noted that FReepers were tuning in to laugh, and they thought we might hear enough to see the light -- and convert to libs. Sounds like they're almost ripe for conversion the other way!

Plus, I'm not sure what O'Reilly's ratings are, but I was under the impression they were pretty mediocre campared to Rush or Sean. O'Reilly's Jump the Shark moment for his TV show came when he started his radio broadcast. After that, it seemed like the energy was drained from him. Another terrible show is Todd Schnitt down here in Florida. Schnitt does BOTH a morning show in Tampa for 4 hours and then an afternoon show for 3 hours here in South Florida. You can tell he is burnt out in the afternoon and is just there to take up airtime to collect his pay check.

The DUmmies seemed nearly lucid today(yesterday). Are you sure a couple of "lousy FReeper trolls" didn't hi-jack that discussion?

It looks like Franken is going the way of Jim Hightower. NPR sent some reporter to a broadcaster's convention last year where Hightower was hawking his show to stations. It was this breathless report about how red state he was, and how he expected to go out there and kick Limbaugh's butt off in a few years.
These people buy into their own bigotry so completely. They really think that we're dumb and other-phobic, and that after Hightower had been on the radio for a year we'd all be slapping our foreheads and saying, "Oh, I thought that was evil and stupid, until the nice man in the cowboy hat explained it to me. I'll surrender my freedoms immediately, right after I sign over this week's paycheck to NARAL."
