Rick Warren's book, The Purpose Driven Life, has sold tens of millions of copies and over 16,000 attend his church, but some critics have gone public with claims that he is not the real deal, as far as Christianity is concerned. Claims that Warren is presenting a watered-down Christianity, to his being a pantheist and practically everything in between, has found their way into writings on the internet, on the radio and even a book. Today's show, with Author & cult expert Richard Abanes regarding his book, addressing these claims is well worth the listen. We started getting email responses as soon as it began to be aired.

But not all agree with Warren's critics. Remember Ashley Smith of Atlanta, who captured our nation's attention when she was held hostage and ended up talking her captor, Brian Nichols, into turning himself in after reading to him from The Purpose Driven Life book? I think she is one grateful young lady for that book! You might be interested to know that since her experience she has had offers to write her own book, for a movie, and even marriage proposals from the exposure!

The Alanta murderer is now part of the Religion of Peace too.

Did you see this from today? A bit disconcerting.

There are many cults--astrologists, UFOlogists,"psychics". A cult is any view you don't agree with, some would say Mormons, SeventhDay Adventists, Jehovahs Witnesses, Catholics, etc.

Rapturologists are just one of the many. Nobody actually raises children or takes out a mortgage based on this belief. Like other cults, it is merely a refuge for those in failure.
