There are lots of good folks in Illinois along with some moral politicians. But the Soviet Democratic People's Republics of Chicago, Evanston, and Oak Park, etc., have undermined the morality of this state till it looks like a Liberal Canadian outpost.

"Durbin will be followed by the Hon. Senator Ted Kennedy who will question Roberts on morality."
And then Joe Biden who will question him on originality.

Dick Durbin, another idiot that can't read. There is no language in the Constitution that makes abortion "legal". Let the individual states decide that question. THAT IS CONSITUTIONAL!
By the way, You don't know dick....Dick!

Perhaps Judge Roberts would see his way clear to support retroactive abortions for worthless POS's like Durbin?

Lifelong Illinoisan here.
It is time to always add the adjective "Non-Catholic" Dick Durbin every time we mention his name.
He's not merely practicing a "personal pro-life" view and leaving law to the lawyers. He's actively seeking to undermine the position of the Catholic Church and personally see to it that anyone who holds a view consistent with the Catholic Church on said issue is disqualified from being a Supreme Court Justice.
This is not passive disobedience, or uniformed sinning. He is actively defying the Catholic Church, undermining it, claiming its membership and personal knowledge of the "real position" on the issue (or what they "really mean," take your pick). He is deliberately and knowingly punishing people for holding a position consistent with Catholic teaching, and using his position of power to discriminate against and persecute Catholics for holding those Church-consistent views.
He should be publicly excommunicated. I do not hold that pro-choice people should always be excommunicated, but in this case, he absolutely should.
The Church should immediately take action as he degrades the Church during the hearings.
Excommunication is, at this point, the only proper action, IMHO.

I'm not on speaking terms with our new Pope yet. Who is the Archibishop in Chicago, or where do we go to get this started?

Cardinal Francis George is archbishop of Chicago.
3.5 million Catholics in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Daniel Robert Jenky is bishop of Peoria.
The question needs to be posed to the clergy,
"How could the Church NOT excommunicate Senator Dick Durbin considering his active defiance of Catholic Doctrine and clear and intentional persecution and discrimination of people of the Catholic Faith?"
Those in authority are to be held to a higher account.
I wish I could get that started. Chances are, there's already a movement going on by practicing Catholics already.
I just get angry at this crap - ever since Geraldine Ferraro. How can you even call yourself a "Catholic" - HOW CAN YOU EVEN CALL YOURSELF ONE - if you are actually going to disqualify people for high positions like SCOTUS for holding true to Catholic teachings?!?!?!?!?
It's an abomination. Pure and simple.

"mainstream American values"Polls show that most Americans think abortion should be allowed only in cases of rape, incest, threat to the mother's life, or severe fetal deformity, which together comprise only a few percent of the abortions currently performed ... so I guess Durbin means he's holding out for a justice who will allow abortion to be restricted to only those rare cases. Right?

Sounds a lot like where I live now, the Soviet Republic Democrat state of Washington, where the state is controlled by the very VERY liberal Seattle/Bellingham area. The rest of the state, east and south remain conservative. Seattle has the population so they win. Portland, right across the Columbia River from us is totally run and populated by the same leftest libs...what a beautiful area populated by the very lowest scum that cause most of the trouble in America.

We should be charitable about these folks. Rather than the very lowest scum, let's please make it the very highest scum--remember scum rises to the top.
