Unfortunately, thems the breaks. Is there not an immigration attorney that Rigo/your mom can contact? They are the ones who know the law.

An interesting and unfortunate dilemma.
Your mother must be very upset.
Things aren't always as black and white as some would want them to be.
When you have to deal with reality, as George W. Bush and Vicente Fox are trying to do, it's not so simple.

Man, this is bad. I can understand your situation.
Many illegals have good intentions, but what they do is still not right. If Rigo wants to do what's right, then he needs to do what's right.....all the way.
My suggestion would be to have Rigo apply for citizenship, legally, and for your mother to talk to someone in INS to see what could be done to speed up the process.
Good luck. And, good luck to your mother.........she's going to need it

It's unfortunate that your step father has been arrested. It's my understanding that the INS was ordered to crack down on OTM's and deport them. Since he's from Honduras, he's as good as gone. Especially if he is a felon. I don't think there is anything anyone can do about it. I may be wrong but I think once someone has been convicted of a felony, they can never become a US citizen. If your mother wants to be with him, she may have to move to Honduras.
