The book begins with a puzzle: How did the flower children fall for such a self-evident thug and opportunist? And it offers a possible hypothetical answer, which is that ''the Night Creature'' -- Nixon -- and his heirs and assigns could not ever possibly be allowed to be right about anything.
When Eszterhas writes about Nixon, and his admirers like Lucianne Goldberg, he hits an overdrive button and summons the bat cave of purest evil. He hasn't read as much recent history as he thinks he has, or he would know that his forebears were mesmerized in precisely the same way to believe that Alger Hiss was framed.
Thus does Nixon inherit an undeserved and posthumous victory. If by chance we ever elect a bent and unscrupulous Republican president, he or she will have a whole new thesaurus of excuses, public and ''private,'' with which to fend off impeachment. These ''bipartisan'' excuses will have been partly furnished by the ''nonjudgmental'' love generation. If Eszterhas had had the guts to face this fact, he could have written a book more like ''F.I.S.T.'' instead of ''Sliver.''

Edward Klein's book "The Truth About Hillary" has made the New York Times bestseller list for the second week in a row - a development that has the Times book review spitting mad.
As NewsMax reported over a week ago, Klein debuted on the Times list this week in the No. 2 two slot.
Despite an orchestrated campaign to keep Klein off of major TV talk shows, NewsMax has learned that the bestselling author will be on the Times list next week as well, in the No. 4 position.
The liberal Gray Lady apparently doesn't like the fact that one of their own -- Klein is former editor of the New York Times Magazine -- penned a biting biography of one of the paper's icons, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The Times has yet to review the book, but took the unusual step in Sunday's book section to publish a disclaimer attacking the book from pillar to post in a sidebar column adjacent to the bestseller list.
"'The Truth About Hillary,' has united [no easy task] literary critics," Timesman Dwight Garner fumed, adding "it is easily this year's most vilified book."
Then Garner promptly joined in the vilification:
"Writing in the Book Review in 1988, Joyce Carol Oates coined the term 'pathography' to describe hatchet jobs like Klein's. Reading Oates's taxonomy of that genre today, it sounds as if she somehow had an advance copy of Klein's book rotting at her elbow."
Rotting?
.... Shall we call that liberal "pathocoverage"?
Klein, a veteran journalist and editor with credentials well beyond anything Kelley has to offer, said he isn't bothered by the elite media's disdain for his book.
"My book's staying power on The Times list is testimony to the power of the Internet and conservative talk radio," he told NewsMax on Saturday. "The mainstream liberal media no longer have a monopoly on what's news and what isn't, and that's a healthy thing for America."
More healthy still, "The Truth About Hillary's" bestseller status shows that readers were willing to defy the media blockade orchestrated by the Clintons.
Hours after speaking to NewsMax, Klein told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley:
"Hillary and her people have called up . . . all the TV networks and the newspapers and said to them that, if you give Ed Klein exposure, we're not going to be very happy about it." The result: "I've been canceled on many of the TV shows that I was booked on," Klein said, "and have not had my book reviewed by any of the major media."
Klein appeared on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes show the day his book was released on June 21, but the network quickly canceled three scheduled interviews with the author.
A wave of other cancelations followed as CNN's Lou Dobbs and Sinclair Broadcasting's News Central were the only other programs to interview the author.
But the media censorship may be working in Klein's favor. Not only is his book a certified New York Times bestseller, it also debuts this week on the Publisher's Weekly bestseller list in the No. 4 slot.
Klein's 'Truth About Hillary' Hits NY Times Again; Paper Lashes Out HILLARY: NIXON-PLUS
Old media have two choices--continue to play the access-journalism game and feed their own increasing irrelevance ... or band together to resist this sick, dangerous... person, end their 4th-estate malfeasance and protect the country from a second and likely fatal assault from this inept, corrupt, ruthless pair of egomaniacal demagogues.
Hillary clinton needs old media more than old media need hillary clinton.
Leni Riefenstahl was the film genius who outmaneuvered propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels to chronicle Hitler's 1934 Nuremberg rallies in perhaps the most notorious documentary ever filmed, Triumph of the Will. For sheer power, reach, and ruthlessness, however, the fascist Riefenstahl operation doesn't hold a candle to the Clinton agitprop machine...
Whereas Leni Riefenstahl symbolizes the naïve actress and director who is induced to deal with devils, Hillary Clinton is actor, director and--many would argue--devil, rolled into one willful, corrupt, vengeful, despotic, paranoic package.
And so we have today... here in America... in America!... Hillary Clinton and her media apparatchiks conducting a campaign of censorship-by-terror that is without precedent; without precedent even if we include in the calculus the despotic Clinton years....

issus clinton's profound dysfunction, her textbook case of paranoia and megalomania, her fascistic methods and mindset, are fast becoming impossible to conceal... even from the most casual observer.
And this is the case less because of the Klein book than because of hillary clinton's real-time reaction to it.

Given the silence from the West Wing, Mrs. Broaddrick this week sought answers from Hillary Clinton, whose telescopic feminism apparently sees injustice to women everywhere except the kind which occurs closer to home. In a letter to Mrs. Clinton recalling their meeting shortly after the reported assault occurred, she wondered about the significance of Mrs. Clinton's words to her at that time. Thank you, Mrs. Broaddrick says Mrs. Clinton told her, for "everything you do for Bill." |
AN OPEN LETTER TO HILLARY CLINTON
SUNDAY OCT 15, 2000
As I watched Rick Lazio's interview on Fox News this morning, I felt compelled to write this open letter to you, Mrs. Clinton. Brit Hume asked Mr. Lazio's views regarding you as a person and how he perceived you as a candidate. Rick Lazio did not answer the question, but I know that I can. You know it, too.
I have no doubt that you are the same conniving, self-serving person you were twenty-two years ago when I had the misfortune to meet you. When I see you on television, campaigning for the New York senate race, I can see the same hypocrisy in your face that you displayed to me one evening in 1978. You have not changed.
I remember it as though it was yesterday. I only wish that it were yesterday and maybe there would still be time to do something about what your husband, Bill Clinton, did to me. There was a political rally for Mr. Clinton's bid for governor of Arkansas. I had obligated myself to be at this rally prior to my being assaulted by your husband in April, 1978. I had made up my mind to make an appearance and then leave as soon as the two of you arrived. This was a big mistake, but I was still in a state of shock and denial. You had questioned the gentleman who drove you and Mr. Clinton from the airport. You asked him about me and if I would be at the gathering. Do you remember? You told the driver, "Bill has talked so much about Juanita", and that you were so anxious to meet me. Well, you wasted no time. As soon as you entered the room, you came directly to me and grabbed my hand. Do you remember how you thanked me, saying "we want to thank you for everything that you do for Bill". At that point, I was pretty shaken and started to walk off. Remember how you kept a tight grip on my hand and drew closer to me? You repeated your statement, but this time with a coldness and look that I have seen many times on television in the last eight years. You said, "Everything you do for Bill". You then released your grip and I said nothing and left the gathering.
What did you mean, Hillary? Were you referring to my keeping quiet about the assault I had suffered at the hands of your husband only two weeks before? Were you warning me to continue to keep quiet? We both know the answer to that question.
Yes, I can answer Brit Hume's question. You are the same Hillary that you were twenty years ago. You are cold, calculating and self-serving. You cannot tolerate the thought that you will soon be without the power you have wielded for the last eight years. Your effort to stay in power will be at the expense of the state of New York. I only hope the voters of New York will wake up in time and realize that Hillary Clinton is not an honorable or an honest person.

No problemo. But please understand that we have an especially strong dislike for Hillary Rodham around here.
Take care.

I know you do great research and your obsession is evident you follow through, but your presentation is so "cartoony" and your responses are so defensive, are you not sure of your material you have to dress it up like a 99 cent store?
The content should be sufficient without all the "stuff".
You made your point a couple of months ago. If you find my threads so inferior, why are you still clicking on them? Don't you have better things to do with your time?
Defense defense defense...you overlooked my compliments and honed in on the critique.
If you want to play with the big boys, you better be able to handle criticism.
