Apology not accepted (I'm not done with Durbin)
The American Thinker ^ | June 22, 2005 | Matthew May

Sen. Richard Durbin took to the floor of the United States Senate late Tuesday afternoon to ostensibly apologize for his offensive, stupid and seditious remarks comparing an American military base to the murderous regimes of the most notorious despots the world has ever seen. Sen. Durbin apologized - but did not retract. During his floor statement, Sen. Durbin channeled his colleague George Voinovich by shedding a few tears. But more importantly, Sen. Durbin repeated the myth that his speech last week may have been misunderstood by those who were offended by his comparisons, and suggested that these misperceptions – not the remarks themselves - were the reason he decided to apologize. "Some may believe," Sen. Durbin argued, "that my remarks crossed the line. To them I extend my heartfelt apologies." Some? What about you, Senator? Are the interrogators at Gitmo just as bad as the SS? Sen. Durbin, in his quest to retain his party leadership position and in an attempt to perhaps shield himself from censure, revealed an alarming ignorance for historical comparison when he said "I've come to understand that's (the comparisons of American military units to Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Pol Pot) a very poor choice of words."

I don't understand.

How can you reject an apology that hasn't been offered?

Durbin is a scumbag, and his apology was not really an apology. I didn't expect anything less from the RATS.

Okay .. Rush didn't accept Durbin's apology .. and now here's another.

Not only did he NO APOLOGISE, he used Abe Lincoln words and twisted them to suite himself.

Lincoln was referring to his decision to go to war to save the union. Durbin is hoping everything falls apart in Iraq so he can then say he was right all along.

THIS DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Just a reminder to Senator Durbin:

"Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled or hanged."

Abraham Lincoln

Sending this to the Speaker and Frist and Harry Reid....Durbin's apology about a speech he had carefully rehearsed is simply not enough, he doesn’t deserve to be a Senator of the United States. You people in Illinois should really get on his case, drum him out....none of our senators should every get away with such mendacious and abusive language about our country, especially during War Time.

I'm sorry.

Words can be weapons.

Durbins words were weapons.

The Democrats hate President Bush and their hate is hurting Americans here and abroad.

Apologies are great. But nothing will remove the domino effect of the words spoken on the Senate Floor by Senator Durbin.

Durbin executed an abuse of power and responsibilty

Durbin should, on his own, step down.

Durbin won't step down. He doesn't have enough class to do that.

I am also up set with the Senator from Arizona. McCain is a wimp.

I don't know about keeping track of the people who do not accet the non apoligy but ----

I would like to know how many times Republicans condemn, criticize, and make a judgement of fellow Republicans when they do something the Democrats don't like - re Trent Lott. Republicans turn on our own faster than wild animals to a kill.

When you compare all the troubles the Democrats have gotten into over the years to actions of President Nixon's, well, it makes me wonder.

Look at what the Dem Senators are doing in voting for Bolton. And yet the MSM blame President Bush for not being able to work with the --------!!!!!

Lyrics to the Durbin theme song...

Baby, do you understand me now
Sometimes I feel a little mad
But don't you know that no one alive
Can always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem to be bad
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that all I have do is worry
Then you're bound to see my other side
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
If I seem edgy I want you to know
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has it's problems and I get my share
And that's one thing I never meant to do
Because I love you
Oh, Oh baby don't you know I'm human
Have thoughts like any other one
Sometimes I find myself long regretting
Some foolish thing some little simple thing I've done
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

(sorry the link blew up...)

The same spiel between Voinovich and Durbin.
On stage: a $900 tailored suit with a crying Voinovich in it.
Chicago's Dick Durbin during a scripted apology, which in fact wasn't one, with his so expressed sadness did a Voinovich parody. Dick's fame: He made Al Jazeera...worldwide.
Army personnel: Don't get caught, Dick set the stage for you.

Durbin was insulting everyone by saying we don't understand English. He is still a nitwit democrat. Apology not accepted.

McCain is a wimp.

McCain is no wimp. Anybody who went though what he did as a POW isn't a wimp

If you said McCain was mentally disturbed and deeply delusional, I would agree.

The people of his state need to rein him in.

Oh but Arizona's little Banty Rooster was thumping the podium this morning loudly proclaiming that Global Warming is real in spite of the fact 11,000 scientists world wide have stated there is no way and no proof there is global warming, in fact the Toyota accord or agenda is a bunch of Barbara S. propaganda - follow the money there.

McCain has lost his Republican base out here (West) and is courting liberals and Libertarians; they should know by now McCain has never been accused of being overly smart…mavericks make poor leaders and worse friends.
