Cindy Sheehan: Are Those Crocodile Tears?
Ordinarily I have a great deal of sympathy for the families of soldiers who die in combat defending our freedom. I lose that sympathy, when I see those same family members using the death or injury of their loved one for political gain.
Cindy Sheehan is pursuing a vendetta of hate against the President that predates the loss of her son. She hates George Bush, not because she believes that he is responsible for her sons death, but because he stole the election in 2000 and again in 2004. She is a willing participant in the campaign of hate that the Left has pursued against President Bush since his victory in 2000. She is currently an active participant in Representative Conyers impeachment campaign against the President. This is a woman I watched recite an account of her son's sacrifice without shedding a tear, not a catch in her voice, or even a hesitation; no sign of grief whatsoever. His aunt who was also present was in tears as her sister read her son's story. Did she love her son? Certainly she did, all mothers love their sons; the difference is that most mothers dont exploit the death of their sons for political purposes. They may, as in the case of MADD, use their tragedy to motivate them to pursue moral crusades to have laws passed, but these women have no political agenda prior to their loss. They are spurred to action by their loss. If Mizzz Sheehan was truly motivated by the loss of her son to pursue the ones who caused his death, she would be out for the head of Muqtada al Sadr, not President Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld.

Will
What a shame. Her son was a hero.
Thanks for posting this. As a mother whose son served in Desert Storm, I am offended by her actions. The author is right, she should be on the front line in President Bush's fight to stop these killers.
It's an excellent column, WillMalven. It brought tears to my eyes for the sacrifice of Casey Sheehan. I honor him. I honor the choices he made. In re his mother? She does not honor her son's choices and decisions; instead uses "his decisions" to use the proxy of parenthood to politicize his death. It just goes to prove to me, once again, no matter how rough a child's upbringing and/or environment -- they can overcome and go on to be great Americans. To be never forgotten.
I sent an email to her telling her that while I sympathize with her loss, she is dishonoring her son by doing what she is doing. She wrote me back with more of the same invective she uses in her writings/rantings about George Bush. She is a sick woman.
Thanks. This is a great piece. I was unaware just how fine a young man Casey was, so I really appreciate the information. There is no difference between you and me with regard to our views on the mother.
Did you post the reply on FR? If so, I'd like to read it.

I think Cindy Sheehan is a warning to all troops--you're misfortune in war will be capitalized upon, even by those you thought you could trust. If I were in the military I'd write a "To Be Opened Upon My Death" letter that states that I went into the military with open eyes; I understood the risks I took; I blame no one for my misfortune; Those that would take advantage of my death can rot in Hell.
Dead on, Will. New tagline.
I haven't posted it, andmight have actually deleted it from my email. i'll check when I get home and ping you if I find it. I feel really sorry for her. Right now, I have a very sick CAT in my house and feel horrible about it. I can't imagine losing a son, but I also think she is channeling her grief in a very destructive way.
Man did I stir up a nest of hornets (Liberals)with this one. The haters at www.whatreallyhappened.com discovered my post and have exerpted it on their page...over 1100 hits so far with over 20 hate filled comments. Those idiots can't respond with anything bet hate and obscenity. Shows their true intellectual capacity. I love it!
BTTT.
I was apparently wrong about Cindy, she is the victim of the Left. People like you have taken a woman who was grieving for her son and turned her into a tool for their own agenda.
She is not asking him to re-evaluate, she is pursuing an agenda of hatred spurred on by groups like Military Families Speak Out, which was formed prior to the War in Iraq, and have been pursuing an anti-Bush anti-war agenda since its inception in September of 2002.
She did not arrive in Crawford aboard a bus with the slogan "Please Reconsider Mr. President" she arrived in a bus with the slogan "Impeach Bush." The two are not equivalent.
Your arguments ring hollow in the face of the information I have uncovered.
Thank you for putting the truth on the table Mr. Malven.
This does not qualify as a "Vanity Post"...
If Al Gore or John Kerry had "stole the election" would she hate them? NOT!
how so? I wrote it and I posted it.
Its too good...
