Liberals Are Vietnaming Us, And I'm Sick Of It!

Remember when John F. Kerry testified before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations back in 1971? Just in case you forgot, or never knew about it in the first place, here's a taste of what he said. "They [American soldiers] told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam."

It turns out that most of the claims Kerry was reiterating had come from men who never actually fought in Vietnam. In fact, most of them had never even been in the military. Still, that didn't stop him from trying to convince Congress, as well as everyone in America, that our troops serving in Vietnam were generally rapists, torturers, and psychotic murderers.

Thanks to the efforts of Lt. Kerry and his fellow communist sympathizers in the anti-war movement, popular support for our efforts in Southeast Asia steadily declined, and by 1973 the United States had pulled its combat forces out of Vietnam. However, in spite of the fact that we were no longer sending troops to that country, the liberal "peace at all costs" crowd still wasn't satisfied. You see, even though President Nixon had reached an agreement with North Vietnam to withdraw our troops, he had also agreed to continue giving financial assistance to the South Vietnamese military.

Of course, by the fall of 1974, his administration was coming to an end, due to the Watergate scandal, and liberal Democrats in Congress refused to go along with the Nixon plan for the future security of Southeast Asia. They continued to ignore the pleas of the South Vietnamese for much needed aid until, in April of 1975, Saigon fell to the forces of the north and was renamed Ho Chi Minh City. In the days and weeks which followed that event, tens of thousands of refugees fleeing for the coast were murdered by the advancing communist army.

By the middle of May, communist governments had been established in South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, and over the course of the next four years, the Khmer Rouge, under the direction of Pol Pot, would slaughter over 1.9 million Cambodians.

I guess it's easy to shout "peace at all costs" when you don't know any of the innocent people who'll inevitably be lined up and shot as a result of that peace you've sought for yourself.

Still, that's all just ancient history, right? There's no reason to dredge up such painful memories after all these years. Most people know what happened back then, and rehashing it won't change anything... RIGHT?

Wrong! For you see the same irrational leftist ideology which led to our humiliating defeat in Vietnam, and the subsequent murder of hundreds of thousands of civilians by communist oppressors in Southeast Asia, is still with us today. Indeed, it is alive and well in the person of Senator Richard J. Durbin, who only a short while ago took it upon himself to compare American troops at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the very people who committed the atrocities mentioned above.

How ironic it is that the aptly named "Dick" Durbin should be likening our military to the Khmer Rouge, who were allowed to wipe out almost two million human beings, precisely because people like him were committed to undermining our war effort at every turn!

And, of course, the Senator from Illinois isn't the only Democrat out there who's going out of his way to demean and vilify our troops today. Ted (a bridge too far) Kennedy, and Robert (that whole KKK thing was just a phase) Byrd see no problem with trying to make George W. Bush look bad by repeating false accusations about our armed forces whenever the mood strikes them.

Who cares if what they say lowers the morale of American troops in the field, making their task that much harder to accomplish, as long as Democrats get to improve their chances of winning back a few Congressional seats next time around? After all, the whole damned Iraq War is just another "quagmire" anyway, and it's all Bush's fault. We know this because the New York Times says so, and they're never wrong about anything.

Oh, and by the way, don't go calling any of these leftist politicians un-American, just because they happen to behave as if the actions of our servicemen and women are more objectionable than those of our enemy. That would be an attack on their freedom of speech rights! Remember, they don't hate our troops, only the mission that our troops are committed to, so when one of them tells the American people that U.S. military personnel are no better than Nazis, what they're really trying to say is that Bush is a Nazi... and there's nothing wrong with that, is there?

As Hillary Clinton once screeched at the top of her lungs, "I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration." I suppose that's true if the words you're using to debate an administration aren't bordering on treason. However, if you repeatedly argue that the people charged with protecting you, and defending your right to debate, are nothing but a bunch of barbarians, who have no more regard for life and human dignity than Genghis Khan, you're a freakin' low-life!

And if you happen to be an elected member of the U.S. Congress, you deserve to be expelled for aiding and abetting the sworn enemies of the United States during wartime, and then prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Your right to free speech ends when what you say jeopardizes the lives of our brave men and women in uniform, who give their all every day in defense of your liberties, and ask only one thing in return... that you shut the hell up and let them do their job!

All you liberals out there are free to delude yourselves into thinking that you're somehow fighting the noble fight by attacking the Bush Administration with fallacious charges and hateful rhetoric, but when you attack our combat troops, you've stepped over a line that you can't just double back on once the spotlight of truth hits you.

You may have gotten away with spitting on our heroes during Vietnam, but try pulling that crap now, and you're gonna find out just how serious people like myself can get when you push us too far. I was but a mere child of ten when Vietnam ended, so I didn't have the wherewithal to tell you then what I'm telling you now. If I ever hear the words baby-killer, or some other putrid remark, directed at someone wearing the uniform of one of our military branches, the slimeball responsible for that slur is going to be cleaning government issue footwear with his tongue soon afterward.

I am getting mad about the coverage we are not getting from Iraq. We should have had a real story about how they found and rescued that hostage yesterday instead of non stories about what is not happening in Aruba.

This is why I rarely call them "Democrats." I just call them what they are: the Traitor Party.
