Diabetics who refuse to tightly control their diets contribute more than their fair share to the national death rate.

Your writer here forgot to put in the appropriate caveat which is: "Barring Disease".

Since he didn't put it in I would distrust everything else he said.

Diets don't work. Embracing a whole life changing lifestyle works. I know this personally.

Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but we can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake.

I agree with you 100%. Personal experience has adequately demonstrated to me the futility of dieting. Right now I am just trying to learn better eating habits, understand my body and how it works, deal with emotional and boredom issues that may lead to bad eating habits, improve my nutrition and stop trying to look like all my skinny friends. I was JUST about to go on another diet, one that "worked" for me before (although I of course gained it back) but I stopped myself.

As for exercise, hey, I love to dance fast and walking can be fun. Just moving is more important than all of the regimens the magazines and "experts" try to put you on. Not everyone wants or needs to be in marathon shape.

It can be hard to resist the urge to diet. It's funny, people see someone who is overweight and they assume that person is slovenly and just doesn't care. But the reality is, probably 90% of the overweight people you see are currently on some kind of diet or just coming off of one.

Dieting makes it worse for most people.
