If this is true as the Andyites claim, then I think it shows a total lack of regard for others in ICU. If he wants to endanger his own life by using a cell phone in ICU, that's his prerogative. But cell phone usage in an ICU could affect all life-saving equipment of other patients. THAT is why it would never be allowed.

well some people have incredible healing capabilities that allow them to use a phone discreetly in ICU 2.5 hours after an invasive 7.5 hour surgery.

Just some.
