Give Our Hospitals to Illegal Immigrants . . and Be Done With it! -(don't ask, don't tell policy!)
OPINION EDITORIALS.COM ^ | MAY 11, 2005 | KAYE GROGAN

Posted on 05/11/2005 1:23:00 PM PDT by CHARLITE

If you’re an "undocumented" illegal immigrant, and you need medical attention–well, get on the "gravy train" for free healthcare compliments of our government, and struggling taxpayers to the tune of $1 billion smackeroos, set aside for your medical costs in six states. There’s only one small hurdle, but I’m sure you’ve already had a lot of practice in getting past the hurdle before. It is quite simple: just don’t admit that you’re an illegal immigrant. And to help you beat the system, and get by with your illegal activity–congress has ordered the "don’t ask" policy to hospital staffs throughout the nation. You even have the blessing from our president to continue breaking the law. Now that’s what I call eastern, western, northern and southern hospitality!

Only in America can the law-abiding citizens’ feet be held to the fire, while foreigners are practically begged to break the laws here in America. We are definitely earning the reputation to be categorized as a bunch of losers and pushovers to other countries.

Just recently, Dr. Mark McClellan administrator of Medicaid and Medicare, gave the command that under no circumstances will hospital staff be required to ask sick people whether or not they are U.S. citizens. My, don’t you wish you had someone like that overseeing that you are provided excellent medical care when you go to the hospital, if you don’t have health insurance?

Oh now I get it! ...the ones who are eligible for free emergency care treatment will be easily recognizable, otherwise, a United States citizen might get through the "freebie" crack, and not be charged for medical assistance. Goodness . . . we can’t have that happening now–can we?

Obviously, the command from the Bush Administration to treat illegal immigrants does not go far enough to suit Cecilla Munoz, a representative of the National Council of La Raza, as she fears many illegal immigrants will still fear seeking treatment.

Okay, I have a suggestion: let’s just give all of the illegal aliens our hospitals--lock, stock, and barrel--and be done with it!

In case you’re wondering how the billion dollars is going to be allocated in this fiscal year through 2008 for free illegal immigration medical treatment, here is the breakdown: California will get $70.8 million; Texas, $46 million; Arizona, $45 million; New York, $ 12.3 million; Illinois, $10.3 million; Florida, $8.7 million, with New Mexico rounding out the top six states at $5.1 million. Now you can go and throw up!

Just think how the medical directives and benefits could help our own citizens in desperate need of healthcare benefits. Well, you don’t count, you will just have to go crawl up in a ball somewhere and die.

I think most of us can agree that something is dreadfully wrong here in America, and it needs to be fixed. Here’s a suggestion to start the ball moving in the right direction: we need to distance ourselves from the United Nations and quit being Santa Claus to every rogue nation in the universe, and quit stuffing the stockings of illegal aliens every day here in America.

We are told that we must allow foreigners to come to America, if we want our economy to grow. And if you believe that "figment" of somebody’s imagination–you’ll end up in poverty, and another depression no doubt! I will have to say one positive thing for our American leaders: they have made sure that we’re the richest nation in the world–if you count the trillions of dollars only on paper.

Most of us already know that our economy is prospering due to "plastic" money. If all charge cards were taken away, there would be an immediate depression.

I have been told that I’m not to worry when my stock goes up or down, because you’re only losing or gaining money on paper until the stock is sold. Whew . . . that’s nice to know! Okay, what do I lose if the stock bottoms out . . . just more paper? You should see just how stupid this analogy is by now!

No . . . what you should see: is how you’re being fed a big dream by opportunists’ forcing you to accept foreigners taking over your territory, with the promise the economy will rise through the roof.

Well, there is no roof in place–just a big empty space with nothing but hot air rising up from a lot of silver-tongued politicians, hoping to placate and please you, just enough to keep them in office by the skin of their "invisible" Pinocchio noses.

Many illegal immigrants resent being referred to as "illegal" immigrants, but they shouldn’t waste time worrying or sweating the small stuff, because soon it will be "politically incorrect" to refer to them as illegals.

Heck–before you know it . . . all of the legal citizens will reverse roles with you, and you will be the ones who are legal, and we’ll be the illegals.

Hey! ...that might not be such a bad idea–if we finally get free medical treatment too!

And that’s just my opinion!

Yes, it has occured to me. And, when that happens, even more hospitals will go out of business. I sincerely hope that happens ... because the alternative is that the government will keep them going, and then the government will go out of business. I'm a libertarian, but not an anarchist. I've seen anarchy close up, and it's BAD. One way or the other, once more than a few people (and we're already past that stage) soak up any free service, some part of the system is doomed, and it's only a matter of time before the freebees stop. As above, the only question is how much destruction occurs in the process of stopping the freebees.

Oh no, my friend, I'm not just talking about one case, I'm just giving one example of many cases.

Slippery slope to socialized medicine. Just mark my words.

Your posts made since until you said ...and not getting paid Give me a break, you get paid and you know it and I know it.

Up until about 5 years ago the hospitals billed the Canadian government for the snow birds in Texas. Canada put a stop to this and now when one of their citizens have an emergency here in the states, Canada is notified and they send one of their air ambulances to transport the patient back to Canada for further treatment.

This is what I wrote our Texas senators about. Neither one would answer me.

It really hurts me to think that we are letting the illegals drive us into socialized medicine. But that is where we are headed. Down here in the South Texas valley, the government pay over 75% of all the health care. When this happens to the rest of the country, the greatest medical system the world has ever known will be destroyed.

I have written to my two senators (Texas) one won't even answer and the other is the point man for Bush and his "it ain't really amnesty amnesty" legislation.

Yep, same here in Arizona for Congressmen. RINO Jim Kolbe being the point man... McCain and Kyl don't even bother responding.

Hey, if you can show me how I can get paid for taking care of illegals and homeless folks, I'd gladly share some of that money with you. Unlike hospital based physicians (ER docs, radiologists, anesthesiologists, pathologists, etc..) who gets subsidized fundings from the hospital they work at when their billing collections fall below breaking point, us independent grunts do not. We call it charitable work. We take unattached ER calls because we are not afraid of plaintiff attorneys. We take unattached ER calls because it is always a privilege to care for the sick, and because it is the right thing to do. Not all of us are in it for the money. Sure we make a decent living, and I'm not one to complain on how much I make. The reality of the situation is that in my practice, my reimbursement rate is ~40%. Imagine a business where only 4 out of 10 customers will pay you for your service/products.

I think you are mistaken...I did not say anything about... and not getting paid...my posting was about the republicans in congress don't feel they need to listen to the grass roots because we have no where else to go.

Sorry, my post to you was misleading. I was posting that about not getting paid to another poster.

The part I was posting to you was about Canadians coming to south Texas in the winter and getting sick. The Canadian government pays their bills or flies them back to Canada. I wrote this scenario to Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutcheson asking why Mexico couldn't do the same. I didn't get an answer from either one of them.

Look in the want ads. These hospitals are full of illegals and homeless down here. There is a high demand for licensed, experienced medical personel all over the US.

We take unattached ER calls because we are not afraid of plaintiff attorneys.

Big deal. Every patient a hospital admits is a potential plaintiff and hospitals can't turn anyone away.

I rarely see an "immigrant" woman WITHOUT a baby carriage. Lately, I've seen a TON of the double baby buggies. Also, in the local police report last week, a woman reported her neighbor's plants (outdoor) being stolen and carted off in a baby carriage by a woman with two children. The loss was reported at $400.

Just get your hands on one of those Matricula Consular ID cards, put your picture on it like how many millions of illegals already do and brush up on your conversational Spanish and wahla, FREE medical care. </anger>

Just include the Drivers license places to. I went yesterday to get motorcycle added to my drivers license and had to wait 3 hours for an eye test. I completed the Motorcycle safety course over the weekend and only needed the eye test. "Almost" everyone in there was speaking something besides ENGLISH! Most were speaking Spanish.

I can identify with your experience. About 2 months ago I dropped in to my area DL office to inquire about a change of address for my DL since I had moved since obtaining my license. I had to wait quite awhile just to ask the question. I counted 41 people in the waiting area and all but 3 appeared to be of a race other than American. Spanish was the prevailing language spoken that day. I even observed that a Texas DPS trooper was being used as an interpreter for the employee taking questions and dispensing directions and info.

I wonder, if these folks can't speak the language when will the government be changing all our road signs so that these invaders can read them in their native language('s)?! I don't hold out much hope for our nation as once the greatest nation in modern times as I see it quickly devolving into a third world nation right before my own eyes!

What an eye opener. It is time for some laws to be changed in this country. There are many citizens of this country that cannot afford health care and to just give it away to illegals is an out rage..It is time we took our country back from the illegals.

Our current laws aren't being enforced as it is so do you honestly think NEW laws will do much good? I contend that we need to at least change the Congress-critters themselves (in-mass if necessary) instead and until the laws already on the books are enforced.

No problem. I agree that Mexico can an should pay for the medical care for its people in the US. Mexico won't as long as it feels that it has the upper hand in the immigration battle. The letter I got back from Cornyn was the priceless "Texas Two Step" who ever wrote it should be writing movie or TV shows.

I should have appended my post with a disclaimer: IMHO that is. I'm just so danged ticked off over this ongoing madness!

Like you and others I tend to get a bit angry with my government regarding them giving away my hard earned tax dollars so willy-nilly and then expect me and you to either like it or lump it! As Eddie Chiles once said "I'm mad as hell and I ain't going to take it anymore!"
