Help! My son has changed the settings for the screen magnification--he changed the colors from 256 to 16. Fonts, icons, size of open windows are huge--the overfill the screen to the point that only about 1/4 of an open window can be viewed. Here is the problem--when I try to change the settings I can get the open window to move high enough to allow me access to the bottom of the open window to hit the ok button. Can you offer a solution. Thanking you in advance.
Bless you for trying, but I have already attempted that. Trouble is, when I open that settings screen, I can make the changes, but I can't move that open window to reach the ok button--it shows about the top 2/3s of the screen and the ok button is off the bottom of the window hidden from view--how do I get to it. Thank you again.
Tab, or shift-tab will hilite your icons and then you can use the arrow keys to move among them. Hit enter to access the icon's software when you get where you need to be, backspace or escape to get out.
Yes, I mean can't. Sorry for the mistake, but this is very frustrating. The problem is the open window is oversized for the screen. When I go to change the settings, the top that window is at the top of the viewing screen but the bottom is out of sight and I don't know how to get to it. When I make the settings changes, I can't get to the oK button to institute them. Thank you for trying--perhaps I am not communicating the problem properly.
Hit the tab key to "focus" the ok button then press enter.
You may have to do some trial and error since you can't see the button.
instead of clicking on the ok button ...you can just hit enter...if that don't work ..try hitting the tab key then hit enter...or do a system restore if your running ME or XP
I know there's a way to do it-- I've had that problem when setting up a new PC, monitor, or video card-- you get a weird-sized display, and have to screw around the start-control panel-display menus to resize everything.

Thank you. I feel sufficiently stupid and I am pretty humble sometimes. PROBLEM SOLVED. The enter--what was I thinking or not? THanks to all for Help.
The okay button is probably highlighted by default. Try just hitting your enter key. Good luck.
I have a computer problem that's had me pulling my hair out all afternoon. I had the netsky virus on my computer, so I deleted all files that had it. Afterwards, I ran defrag. Now, I can't send mail in Outlook Express. I don't know if it's related, but the timing is suspicious. I can receive mail, but can't send.
I have sbcglobal.net DSL. I've checked all of my settings, I've tried every suggestion I've found on the internet. SBC's page said to delete the outbox.mbx file... did that, didn't help. I've tried running the telnet command... it logs me in to my email account, accepts my username, but when I do the password, it says error.
Any more suggestions? I'm nearly bald now.
I wish I knew the answer but I am not the expert. I posted a much simpler call for assistance and got an answer within 15 minutes. You need to make this question a general posting for assistance.
