Daly's Thoughts bring us a story of supposed GOP trickery. Summary: The GOP is handing out "misleading" awards for 'Physician of the Year' and then charging for them. ABC reported this using Dr. Rudolph Mueller as an "innocent victim" of such trickery.
I want to blow the lid off this because I sensed something wrong. I looked up Mueller's book - "As Sick as it Gets" and this is a short description, "The shocking realities of raging high costs, untold human tragedy and blatant greed are the basis of this compelling case for universal, single payer healthcare in the United States."
Single, payer healthcare. How do you think Mueller (and ABC) feel about the GOP? Do you think for a moment this guy is honestly representing how this award was presented to him ? Or is this more likely a media cheapshot using a dyed-in-the-wool leftist to skew the picture and give the most damning impression possible of a relatively innocuous fundraising pitch?
Interesting- Mueller appeared with Howard Dean at a DemocracyNow conference to discuss how liberals could pursue healthcare policy (http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=03/04/07/031221) -- Do you think ABC should have mentioned Mueller left-wing leanings and that he has an axe to grind? Mueller is no idiot- he knows the AMA or other major medical organizations, and knew that this "award" had no association with those groups. This "aw shucks" manner of Mueller seems phony. Long story short: a leftist activist, a left-wing news outlet, likely misleading/incomplete presentation of the facts.
