LOL - Being a productive person I'm a little late on my response. Spring cleaning is just the pits!
Based on my observation of them (especially the protester/activist types) the liberal definition of "silence is...
1. to debate, especially to defeat in open and fair debate due to superior ideas.
2. to ignore.
Take a protest at a Carlyle Group office in Manhattan that I once featured in the Caption-A-Rama. These are people who can hold aprotest blocking a business, a protest that was probably planned for weeks, with a rent-a-mob (confirmed by comparing photos of other events), street performers, a pet photographer (Fred Askew), good media coverage, police protection, etc. Then they post pictures of themselves doing it on the Internet, both on Indymedia and Askew's site, and what are the picures of? Half of them are of old hippy biddies (surely, if conservatives were going t throw down, these frail old woman couldhave been left home) and the other half are photos of peaopl with duct tape over their mouths because the 1st amendment was no longer in effect. They even had a MOAB proclaiming that they have no 1st Amendment rights.
The president and his minions travel the US on OUR dime, and then speak before hand-picked audiences.
Actually, that perfectly describes the Reid-Pelosi-Durbin-Dorgan anti-reform road show that's going on. Of the Dems, only The Swimmer has spoken before a non-screened audience, and he got "ambushed" with a trick question: How come we can't have personal accounts if federal employees do? Always cool in n emergency (just ask Mary Jo Kopechne), Kennedy lost it all over the guy as if he'd asked him when he stopped beating his wife.
If a detractor manages to get inside, and has the courage to say his/her piece, they are unceremoniously escorted OUT, and possibly arrested.
Sure, and I love seeing all those conservatives arguing with Al Gore at those MoveOn.org speeches. Hey, wait a minute...
A person like Coulter is paid 10s of thousands of dollars to spew hatred, and then "deputizes" burly republican students to "throw the dissenters out". This is incitement to violence, pure and simple, and she's being paid by a university that is supported by ALL our tax dollars, democrats and republicans.
UW Whitwater tried to hire Ann a few weeks ago--right after they brought in Ward Churchill. Gues it cuts both ways...
[Poor Baby SoCalDem. Cant argue with conservatives so he is just going to toss stuff and make a big messy-poo. WAAAAH!!! Frustrated crybaby SoCalDem needs a diaper change because folks wont take his idiocy seriously. WAAAAAH!!!]
LOL!
None of these bold "attacks" are sophisticated or even original, but it's a symptom of just how frustrated half (or more) of the nation has become.
I thought it was a symptom of how your side has no ability to get down intellectually and is a bunch of knuckle-dragging barbarroud bags of crap besides.
It is ironic though, that these pranks are widely reported, when millions of people in the streets marching, is not..
My tuchis! You couldn't get mre than a few hundred in New York! Less than 100 in Paris! I just finished looking at the Houston photos and i've held barbecues with bigger attendance. Face it, when people saw what was going on in Iraq was not just propaganda, they refused to be apologists for mass graves and terror training camps. You lose, pitstain.
Civil disobedience is a long-held tenet of our country
Sorry, I'm not able to envision Rosa Parks throwing a pie at George Wallace...or Sheets Byrd and Ernest Hollings, for that matter.
and "first amendment zones",
What if, in the age of suicide bombers, the protester "rabble" of all ideological stripes was a safe distance from potential targets but could use technology to get their message to the whole world? Man, that would be like tyranny, Dude. Everybody knows you're not free until you can throw things at the President, it's right in the Constitution next to the legalized marijuana clause. One last question for SoCalDem: How many 1st Amendment zones are there in Cuba?
[Youre a disenfranchised terrorist? And what was the cause of this disenfranchisement? You lost the right to vote? ]No, he lost the ability to choose blue cheese ipping sauce at his local fast food joint. Truly, our society dies...
The spirit of the Boston Tea Party lives in anyone who opposes this heavy-handed regime which puts dissenters in corrals and muffles the voices of the opposition.
Awe, they think they're Sam Adams, isn't that cute!
The professional liars, Swiftboat and all their adherents, are paid to get on the nightly news.
Jim Wasser, an IBEW electrician from Illinois, hated John Kerry's guts and considered him a traitor for 30 years. He was also completely uninterested in politics at every level. Then Kerry became the Dem nominee, and whaddaya know? Suddenly Kerry's a hero, Wasser loves him and politics and wantsto be a delegate to the Dem convention. Compare that with John O'Neill, and see what stinks.
We need our voices heard over Bush's paid thugs.
Ask Bev Harris for money, she's got some.
And the media loves the visual of a gooey pie sliding down the face of some smug blowhard.
Like, say, George Soros?
I'm trying to lead by example with the "Mister"thing, but nobody's following!
And the best moment (of many) on the Cosby show, when he found out his Dad's large chest scar was the result of a tattoo removal, and he looks at his dad and says, "You told me you got that scar climbing up on the turret of a Panzer tank in World War II!"
Oh dude, you didn't! Do youknow how many diseases you could get having sex with a DUmmie?
