The Courts cannot thumb their noses at a Congressional subpoena.
Maybe once Courts cannot be challenged by the will of the people we already have a dictatorship.

Your views on the Constitution are absurd. To the extent that rights were "retained by the people" under the bill of rights, those would have been rights recognized at English common law in 1789 but not specifically enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
Not at all, the Constitution clearly states where the rights to pass bills for each and every one of these issues, along with any other hypothetical ones you can think of, is located.
Amendment X --- The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

Federal judges can be impeached. State judges can be impeached or voted out of office.
However, mobs should not be allowed to intimidate or drive judges out of office.

It IS sad. I don't think she should die. MS is doing a terrible thing. It is HIS fault. But I don't want Federal Marshalls knocking down doors.
I strongly agree. Enforcing the Congressional Subpoena is the answer.
The solution is to forbid the removal of feeding tubes unless it can be shown that such would not hasten the death of someone. No one has the moral right to assisted suicide. It has nothing to do with spousal rights. Spousal rights have no penumbra that includes murder.

What if an individual has a written directive refusing a feeding tube? Should that be illegal?
It's not a "police state," perhaps not officially. But these arrogant judges, armed with police protection, have turned the USA into a "judicial state," which is not that much different from a "police state."
nope.. its a very bad idea for Bush to do. For one the left and media would start spinnging that Bush can do this to anyone he wants, snatching kids in the night, etc. As I said, it looks good on paper, but in reality it would be a very very bad move. Look at the poll here on this subject. We are hardcore bush supporters and only 50% of us think its good.
I think the only way he could pull it off would be for Bush to personaly go down there, look at her and then take her out with the Marshalls. That would probably fly with the american public.
Yes, with the exceptions noted above. No one has the right to ask others help bring about their demise. If they were conscious, we could not force them to have the tube inserted or stop them from removing it.
Written directives in this case ought to have no bearing. People change their minds about these things, especially after they are in the middle of the experience.
I'm at the point now that I hope she will go quickly now, so she no longer has to suffer dying this way.That's right. If she can't be saved, I hope she doesn't suffer and it's over quick.
What disgusts me is that these a-holes don't err on the side of life. They go to the end of the earth to ensure that CONVICTED MURDERERS don't get wheeled out until ALL APPEALS are exhausted (rightfully so, of course), and then go to the Governor to try to get them off. Yet they are eager to end the life of someone that might show progress IF she got the proper treatment.
