Thanks for the answers. I was surprised about the gang comment. I foolishly thought, 'what gangs?'. You said crooks were dropping like flies. Are they killing each other then? My mom always thought we should have given all the gangbangers in Oregon a handgun, locked them all in the Collisium (in Portland) and tell the last one left alive to shut off all the lights on his way out. She called it post-natal abortion. My mom was a liberal but she was pro-life; an inconsistancy I was never able to resolve.
Do most Aussies think that guns are dangerous and shouldn't be kept by 'normal' people?

The gang wars have cooled of late - most of them are dead! Not a bad thing, IMO. Of recent times, one of the most dangerous places to be is in Melbourne, standing next to a crime boss. Hit and counter-hit has been the order of the day.
Hmmm, A liberal prolifer. I'll have to give that deep consideration...
Views on guns in Australia vary a great deal. Rural folk have no problems with guns, see them as a part of life. A good many urban dwellers have never been exposed to guns and see them as the cause of all evil. Ignorance is never a good thing. Mind you, that's not to say a lot of people in the cities are not shooters.
