Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The judge in the Terri Schaivo case who reissued an order Friday that prompted Terri's feeding tube to be removed for a third time has withdrawn his membership in a local Baptist Church.
William Rice, the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, Florida, confirmed the news to the Baptist Press news agency on Friday.
Rice said he received a letter from Greer Thursday confirming he has rescinded his long-standing membership after the church. The Greer letter came days after Rice made public comments in news reports disagreeing with Greer's decisions related to Terri.
Rice said the two exchanged letters about the nature of Greer's church affiliation after the judge commented publicly about his religious views.
The pastor told Baptist Press he had offered to meet with Greer and received the letter as a response.
According to a St. Petersburg Times news report, Greer, earlier this month, said he told a church deacon, "If I don't like what the St. Pete Times writes about me, my only recourse is to cancel my subscription." He told the deacon he would no longer make donations to the church.
Rice told Baptist Press, I felt like [the Times' comments] opened the door for me to write him and ask what kind of relationship he desired to have with the church."
Our church has not had an antagonistic relationship with Judge Greer, and he has not been publicly criticized at any church function, Rice said. He has friends at the church on a personal level."
Greer's attendance at church began to decline when an official Florida Baptist State Convention publication, the Florida Baptist Witness, began running articles critical of Greer's decision.
Calvary Baptist Church places its newsletters inside the Witness magazine and sends it to its 1,500 members, including Greer.

:::suppressed laugh:::
And let's tell him, "Don't worry.. the pain you're feeling is just part of the dying process"!
I am praying for him in accordance with Psalm 35 and Psalm 109. I am also including Michael Schiavo, Judge Whittemore, and all the appellate judges who turned their backs on an innocent woman and her family.
I pray that God will make examples of all of them.
Mar 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
Mar 4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Mar 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
Mar 4:25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Congress shall now investigate the guilty parties in the murder of Terri Schindler.
They will not. We have a government of moral cowards.
I heard Ralph Nader on TV today laying out what the charge from Congress should have been .
I never thought I would agree with Nader or jackson ... God help us all
Society, the bulk of which is bent upon survival, fails or refuses to recognize death or the urge of organisms toward it. Society passes laws against murder and suicide. Society provides hospitals. Society carries such people [the disabled] on its back. And society will not hear of euthanasia or "mercy killing." (Self Analysis by L. Ron Hubbard; pg. 28)
Anyone know the background on the origins of the phrase "Quality of Life" relative to those with terminal illnesses.....this is bring back some nightmares...
I won't take Nader's opinion as worth anything, he is a very committed Marxists....In that sense Jesse Jackson is just a bit more moral, not by much though!
I could drive about 2 city blocks and ask the local icky Scientology people...but I think not.
So. No, Ernest...I haven't a clue.
I expect further investigations regarding all those from Greer, to the ex-'husband' & -death wish- 'lawyer'. I would also stongly recommend in depth tax audits on all the key manipulators which resulted in Terri Schindler's horrible public death.
Terri's home now, in everlasting peace, while here it's not over, but only beginning to correct this unimaginable injustice and prevent additional blatant forms of nazi-like eugenics policies from sizing absolute control of all of us.
I thought they were sayin this dumb lazy arrogant "judge" was pitched outta his church. Are they tryin to re-write history already???
It really has me pist that these out of control judges made us watch a two week snuffing out of an innocent American Citizen while my local news tonight tells me we're spending a million dollars a year to keep a vicious child molester alive on life support in Folsom Prison!!!
The wheels are really coming off this country's morals and ethics, thanks to these stupid judges and their assinine judicial "process!" It's all one big criminal justice system, alright!!!
What????
Totally ridiculous!
I am hoping that the parents will bering a wrongful death case in a civil court which will force all documents to be made public.. I hope the defendants are the husband, the lawyer ( who talks to the dead ), the state of Fla and Greer . I suspect the state and the judge could opt out.. but I would love to see it
Soviet Russia's ghoulish system of 'court ordered' extermination in the frozen gulags for countless millions of innocent victims took some 70 years to crumble.
Slavery was also 'legal' in portions of America until it's evil slave masters were resoundingly defeated.
The unimaginable suffering Terri endured, coupled with the Schindler family's heart-rending anguish, and the sadness of the many millions around the world, none of it shall not go unnoticed by G-d.
A very Christian response - NOT!
