IMPORTANT NEWS FIRST !!
On Friday,March 11,2005,an Atlanta,Georgia rape suspect named Brian Nichols overpowered a Sheriff's deputy as he was being brought into the courtroom for re-trial,seized her gun, shot her in the head, killed the judge and the court reporter, shot and killed another deputy, and made his escape by carjacking a reporter.
Nichols,it is believed, then killed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent and stole the agent's gun, shield, and pickup truck. He then drove to an apartment complex and took a woman resident hostage : surrendering only after being surrounded by a small army of SWAT officers,Sheriff's deputies, local police, and federal agents.
NY-area television station NBC did broadcast this story last night-along with a story on alleged steroid use by baseball players. It gave both stories roughly equal coverage.
In case you're wondering, the network broadcast the steroid story first.
I don't know.....with all the violence in Atlanta, maybe we should just pull out of Atlanta. It's starting to look like Iraq down there....we should just pull out.
/sarcasm ;)
Nichols should never have been taking alive. Some lawyer is probably going to prove Nichols is 17 and is protected by the SCOTUS recent ruling.
"...made his escape by carjacking a reporter."
"...made his escape by carjacking a reporter."
But after a while, there is no new news to report. In Kansas, we don't have to bother watching the first 2 minutes of the newscast out of Wichita because it will only be BTK, though nothing new to report about him. They'll interveiw a cellmate and former neighbor, air an opinion of a politician, and give LOTS and LOTS of peculation. I don't consider gossip and fortune telling to be news.
That illustrates my point perfectly. The first mention I saw of head injuries NOT being due to gunshot wound was today !
