15. I would understand that kind of treatment for someone that has a record.....of violent crime, but a suspended license? And sitting in the back of a squad car that has no handles on the doors and a heavy-duty screen between the driver and the prisoner?

Give me a break.

IMHO, Jon's being sent a message...tone it down, or be prepared for more of the same or worse.

(DU alert)

Are you sure it wasn't a DUI?

I have a $10 unpaid university parking ticket that's 2 years past due. I wonder if it'd come up if I ever got stopped.

Maybe they should have sent a limo?

I got arrested for the same thing once and they were trying to send me a message. The message was "It's illegal to drive on a suspended license".

This guy seems to be very familiar with the back seats of squad cars.

Oh boy, I was only able to read a few of the posts before my eyes started crossing and I began seeing two sets of all the cops who are following me on my way home from work.

YOu know what...as I am reading this, it appears that the system has worked correctly, but the DUmmies can't possibly stand that because it is the wife of one of their "heroes"....

PJ you gotta give this one a shot....

Wait till her hubby starts joking about it on his show. The DUmmies will go ballistic over it claiming that "Jon got the message".

FYI..your brothers in blue in the media...care to opine? Seems to me that if the cops cut her some slack, and then somehow someone found out..they'd be , at best, walking a beat on SI..what are they supposed to do, let her leave the car and take a cab home?

This is one of the best arrests you can come across. It's called a 511 (five-eleven). Driving with a suspended license. We are allowed to run random license plates. When the registration info comes up on the computer, the name on the registration comes up. So you then run the name on the registration and see if the license is valid. Hers was not valid. So it's a no-brainer. She got a DAT (desk appearance ticket) so she did not have to go to central booking which would have meant a full night in jail and a date with a judge in the morning. DAT's are issued to otherwise law abiding citizens who are not a risk to miss a later court appearance. But the officer gets credit for the arrest and that is all that matters to us. In terms of the car, we ask if there is a friend/family member who can come pick up the car. If not, it gets vouchered and picked up at a later date when the matter is adjudicated.

Thats how I got nailed for it. I was sitting at a drive thru at Burger King and the cop behind me ran my plate mostly out of boredom I think. I was guilty end of story.

Yeah, we can run up to 500 plates/day. Any more would have been too much in the eyes of the court I guess. If you are within eyeshot of a cop and are sitting at a light/drive through/etc..., your plate is gonna get run. Unless, of course, the officer does not want an arrest. In that case, you might be able to do a lot of things and still not get stopped.
