I have a PHOTOBUCKET gallery. I get 3 choices of format for direct linking. Which one will work on FREE REPUBLIC? I suppose I am already as high tech as an old man needs to be, but I have no problem with direct image linking anywhere else, damned if I can figure it out! One of these days, only a matter of time, I am gonna get a shot of a gator eating a democrat, and Y'all are gonna miss out!

Now you can post pictures in lieu of the witty, politically astute comments that some of us lack here on FR. This is my fingerpainting...
Make sure your pictures are saved to....mywebdocuments. I found out about that the hard way. I kept trying to post pictures with just the address and not having them transfered to....'publish this folder to the web'.
I pay big bucks, well, anyway, $25.00 a year, to store image files in PHOTOBUCKET. I am a photo shooting fool. If I can't swipe and paste a direct link, it is beyond Me, WHY!
I have images linked all over, not here, however.
Do I need to be a total Geek, or something?
I have no interest in learning all the details of computer language.
I have 3 formats for image files, that I can swipe and paste, they don't work here!

On "Photobucket"--I've been using it only since Monday, and here it is, Wednesday--I highlight and "copy" the address given in TAG (the TAG, not the other two options) to a Microsoft Word document, and then return to Free Republic, and "paste" the TAG from Microsoft Word to my message in Free Republic.
It works, obviously.
I am sure there is an easier way to do this, but for right now, it works.
Oh, and it is always a good idea to use "preview" before "post"--a handy tip from JLO--to be sure it is done correctly.

You're welcome to try the Norway ping list, sir, with the alligator. Just to get a handle on how to do it.

You can cut/paste the TAG from photobucket to FR directly.
Using MS word documents is a different way to post pics - instead of using photobucket. For not using photobucket, you just have a document with the URL links pasted, along with the < img src= URL > enclosing each one. Hope that makes sense :-)
Hey! Good deal, both of you got it down how to post a pic. It took me a few trial and errors too.
Now, if you want to just post a pic ONE time:
You don't need to save it anywhere. Get a copy the picture's URL address (it will stay in your computer's 'cache') and then paste it to your FR post. Then...just add the < img=src in front of the URL address and close it with a >
