I draw a sharp distinction between vocabulary and content. Pitt uses a fog of words to cover a lack of actual ideas. The past master of this skill is Professor Cornel West, late of Harvard and now infesting the faculty of Princeton.

When you read any of the limited "scholarship" of this gentleman (who is a legend in his own mind, and the minds of those who are easily deceived) it is hard to diagram any real content. It boils down to three ideas. Capitalistic America is bad. All socialist countries are good. And blacks are at the bottom of the heap because other people (but not blacks, including West) are at fault.

Ah, Congresscritter Billybob finally unlocks the secret of the Pittster:

He's a bullsh*t artist.

Behind the torrent of newly coined phrases designed to recall the Third Reich are the same old same old doctrines of dialectical materialism without the scholarship of Marx. One passage is truly revealing:

The truth of the radical Right's power over the past 20-some years is that it has very little order, and that which it takes has alarmingly medieval origins. The Cold War was, to them, a last run at the Asian Menace of Huns and Mongols and Avars and Turks. The 'War on Terror' is just a last run at the problems that led to Tours And Poitiers and the Crusades. The 'War on Drugs' is another argument with hostile Indian tribes. And somewhere between all of that, there's some foggy ideal of England circa 1600 as a way to run the United States in perpetuity. It's the Middle Ages being given one last run. One last evasion of Modernity

Understand that Pitt's statement is a revelation of where much of the Democratic Party stands in the struggle with Islamic Fascism, i.e.; there is no war, it's all our fault, we are merely using war to postpone the advance into the broad, sunlit uplands of Socialist construction. Bin Laden's movement doesn't really exist as a danger to the United States!. We created him.

I can get this kind of crap from Janeane Garafolo. At least there's no pretense to intellectual authority there.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
