I just listened to Mike Gallagher spend five minutes ripping into bloggers on his radio show. He started out by talking about the Jeff Gannon scandal, calling him a "creepy guy." Gallagher went on the say that it is the "blogging atmosphere" that allowed the Gannon scandal to happen.
He said that bloggers are a bunch of "geeky losers in their basements cranking out crap on a computer" and that blogging provides "power for freak-shows to harass and destroy individuals."
"I am worried about this trend of legitimizing bloggers," Gallagher said.
He then went on to reveal his ignorance of how blogs work by saying that bloggers send out "thousands and thousands" of emails to people whether they like it or not.
Gallagher continued, "I am not enamored with the bloggers... I think it is a breeding ground for a lot of bad, bad things."
Gallagher stated what really bothers him about blogging is that "anybody can do it."
I take it that Mike Gallagher is not much of a free market individualist, nor does he trust the restraining effect of competition in the marketplace. Bloggers must be controlled! Bloggers are dangerous! No Mike - it is people like you who cannot bring themselves to trust average Americans who are dangerous. Be careful, your elitism is showing.
I listen to Mike's show occasionally and one of the things that has bothered me for awhile is his tendency to yell at and belittle his callers. When someone disagrees with him, he just gets louder and more condescending. Bullying is no substitute for an argument.
(Note: this post was cranked out by a self-confessed geek sitting in his basement home-office, from which a small business operates.)
Gallagher sucks, he applauded Reno sending little Elian back to that island gulag known as Cuba.
Simple - don't listen.
I think Mike's comments come from the fact that this was going way cool as long as the conservative bloggers make the discoveries and expose the left. But there's also an active left blogsphere and they too will unearth ditties on us that will get traction.
The blogs are as dangerous to conservatives as they are to the liberals. Ask Gannon/Guckert.
Gannon/Guckert also has the blogosphere to thank for discrediting the Leftist critics and exposing them for the hypocrites that they are with their "Look - he's gay!" outing meme. I also note that Gannon has said that he has made "mistakes" rather than being proud of his conduct and promoting homosexuality as a good, alternative lifestyle. He seems rather repentant, which scores big points as far as I'm concerned.
The freedom of the blogosphere is not nearly as dangerous as the institutionalized Left-wing, anti-American Big Media. At least blogs really are the voice of the people.
I am not afraid of Left-wing blogs - all things being equal, the truth will prevail.
Is he repentant because of being caught, or repentent in the sense of forever repentent.
What does being against homosexual marriage have to do permitting homosexuals to hold a secular job? It is the Left who sought to disqualify him based on his alleged sexuality - you can spin it any way you like. And let's get this straight - apparently Gannon is married and is no longer practicing homosexuality.
He can be entertaining while beating up on idiot liberals, but gets grating when he starts in about how he wants government to grow.
I just don't listen to him, don't like his style at all.
I listen to Mark, Ed and SGT Sam as well. At 9, I listen to Laura Ingraham and then Rush at noon. Some days I listen to Jeff Ward, but most days I listen to Hannity.
The days Suzanna Huff subs for Jeff, I listen to her. She needs her own radio show. Jeff is too Libertarian for the most part.
Jeff is Ok as long as he stays away from sports. I can't stand sports TALK. Bunch of armchairs sitting around whining. As for Suzanna, yes she does. Her delivery is pretty good and she's not afraid to go toe to toe with an idiot caller.
I'm more libertarian than Jeff is. Much more.
I think you can boil down his entire tirade to one fine point.
"Damn! I better negotiate a new long-term contract soon."
And for the record, I only send out /hundreds/ of emails. :)
FYI for anybody interested, I posted the audio on my site so you can hear it straight from the horse's mouth.
