Equally bad dictators? Certainly there are some real bad guys in that line of work, but Saddam (IMO) really was in the elite class.

The reason the Vietnam War "won all the battles but lost the war" was because it lacked this sort of moral legitimacy both at home and in Vietnam.That is utter nonsense. There were several reasons we "won all the battles but lost the war" in Vietnam and that is not even one of them. Quite the contrary actually.
