I know, I know..this is unsourced rumor. But then again, DEBKAFile stuff gets posted here every day, so I can have a little fun, can't I?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I like this kind of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if this story has a bit of truth....sounds like something Pres. Bush would joke about. Thanks for posting it.

Not gonna happen. Hillary on the other hand, shudder, gulp, sigh, moan and run to work to try to forget it.

I've been hoping that Cheney resigns after the '06 midterms and W nominates Condi to fill the remainder of his term. She could then run as the incumbent Veep. Sweet!

Not only would we be able to put to bed the "GOP being a white-mens-club" once and for all. . .

It would also put the final nail in "Hitlery's bid for president" coffin.

If we got to choose between Hitlery and Condi, I doubt it would even be close! Condi would take it in a landslide!

I wish it could be so, yet there is no way the Republican Party would support her.

I think too many white voters would be turned off because she's black and the abortion/affirmative action wing of the Republican party would stomp her in the primaries.

She hasn't got a prayer. Look elsewhere.

"I know..this is unsourced rumor."

So, what your saying is that is more reliable than Dan Rather. I am leaning toward believing this. Bush is known to give people nicknames and this seems to have his unique style.

I've been told by some FReepers that Murrica is still too racist for a black President. I dunno, I view the world through the eyes of a New Yorker, so I'm not seeing all that racism.

Comments?

love the idea...love Condi...HOWEVER IMHO she needs to show she has the political instincts to be able run for public office, win a general election, and govern strategically at the level of a major state governor.

My money's on Condi.

She would mop the floor with Hitlery in the general election.

It would be fun to watch the Dems run against a Black woman-- they'd have to make her out to be a 'house negro' or an 'Uncle Tom (Aunt Jemima?)' and that would probably destroy a good chunk of the black support they still have by exposing the fact that, in the Democratic view, black people are free-thinking individuals, as long as they think what they're told.

Reps will vote for the best candidate, hopefully they will not vote because someone is a member of a minority.

The problem as I see it with her running is that a lot of Southern Democrat and rural vote that went to Bush last year, won't vote for her. A perfect example is the Louisiana Governor's election in 2003. Though he was a fairly strong conservative, Bobby Jindal, whose family is from India, though he's Catholic, could not draw enough votes from the more rural north LA. parishes.

Look at the history of the majority of black politicians. Liberals like Jesse, Carol Braun, and Sharpton come to mind. People less informed will be leery of her.

And sadly,I think that race in many areas of the country still trumps the competency of Rice.

Dick Morris has stated that Condi would cut into Hillary's two major constituencies, blacks and women. Morris has often been wrong on predicting election outcomes, but there is obviously some truth in that observation.

On an academic and intellectual basis Condi wins hands down. My wife pointed out how Condi actually "taught" the Europeans where they were wrong, on her recent trip. She seems to have an iron glove.

I would absolutely love to watch the Condi-Hitlery debates. I'd record every minute of them.

So many people protest against Condi because she is "reluctantly" pro-choice. But positions evolve. Years ago I saw nothing wrong with abortion, God forgive me. I have matured and changed my mind and am now passionately pro-life. The same thing could happen as thoughtful Christian people work with Dr. Rice to open her mind and heart.

Well, Cheney isn't running and Jeb isn't either (apparently, Barbara doesn't want him to run-- in addition to any hesitation Jeb has-- expressed in his commitment to not run), so the only other person Bush trusts completely who could possibly run is Condi. And Bush loves the 41 nickname for GHWB, so it sounds like something he'd say.

C. Rice would never win in '08.
And it is the height of naïvety to even suggest she is qualified to be POTUS when you, and everyone else here, can't say what her economic, social, environmental, etc etc, views are.
