It was like this for the whole 5 miles off the highway. Returning soldiers from the 216th Engineer Battalion are welcomed with flags and cheers.
Fairfield High School senior Bonnie Deem holds a sign for the returning soldiers from the 216th Engineer Battalion who passed her and other students along their parade route down Gilmore Road

Brandon Kenney, 7, from Price Hill waits to greet his father Sgt. Sean Kenney. Members of the Ohio National Guard 216th Engineer Battalion returned home to a warm-hearted welcome as hundereds turned out to greet the returning force at the Tri-County Assembly Church in Fairfield.

group of young girls, friends of Kate Uehlin, 8, (center) wait for the buses with signs greeting Kate's father Frank. Members of the Ohio National Guard 216th Engineer Battalion returned home to a warm-hearted welcome.

Doug Couch awaits his Purple Heart during the ceremony.

Thanks for posting the wonderful photos!

I love our service men and women. I keep them in my prayers and celebrate the return home of every single one. So far I have lost a cousin, a friend I served with, and a friend from my home town to this war. My daughter was also seriously wounded.

I would volunteer to serve again, but my body is too old and to broken.

The young kid, Specialist Couch, I am sure some mama and dad and maybe even a young wife are supremely proud of him.
