All I have to do is walk past the Starbucks concession stand at my local Safeway and I KNOW I don't want any of them serving me.

HAHA! That made me laugh, the notion that rural people don't have computers. Elitist liberals imagine rural America to be Hooterville in Green Acres, with Mr. Drucker running the gen'ral store, and Eb driving the tractor.

I homeschool. This white male, and my African-American ex wife and her disabled veteran husband find it about the most satisfying thing we do.

And my 7 year old is in 4th grade, my 5 year old is in 3rd.

Naw, we don't know anything about diversity, but why would we want to. In our school all the kids are smart, all the adults are interested in their progress.

Republicans are a "gated community" but Sarandon of Fantasyland is reality based.

The "gated community" comment was so stupid I wasn't going to comment. But...

Do these fools know that the Kerry/Heinz "ski chalet" in Sun Valley is in a gated enclave? Do they know that Ted Kennedy's McLean VA home is behind a gate with videocameras? Do they know that Tommy Daschle's Foxhall Rd. manse is gated? Rat lobbyist Tommy Boggs?

Sun Valley in particular is a bit of a joke. The getaway place for Hollywierd Rat celebs, the last time I drove through that area it was one gated community after another.

DUmmies are so .... DUmb! Utterly ignorant of the world in which they live.

" I just hope that you realize that you need to make up for the social isolation that your homeschooling decision will inflict on your kids. I don't doubt that they can make the grade, but do they really understand that "diversity" is not a communist plot, but a divine reality? That's a rhetorical question because I'm finished with this thread."

Social isolation? Adults do not spend their entire day with others of their same age. In the real world we must interact with people of a vast diversity. My homeschooled children are polite, well behaved, helpful, kind and generous. They behave this way with everyone.

As homeschoolers we don't have the resources to create a classroom full of "diversity". Then again, when I was in school, we were just kids and not part of some designed microcosm.

As to social needs there is a good HS group here; we do things together. We have church, scouting, community sports, and a lot of community events.

I question the use of the term "divine reality". That implies a deliberate structure and disallows the concept of free will.

Life is not complicated; the golden rule applies to most every situation. My children are taught to give everyone respect. Those they give it to either keep it or spend it. There is no concept of "earning" respect taught in our home. We default to the high road.

/end rant

Glad you're feeling better PJ!!

Rural people need "sound bites", something simple and easy to remember.

It's pretty funny that one of these DUmmies should post something like this. This is exactly their mentality regarding rural and middle America. They think that the citizens in these parts of our country are stupid! Truth is, it is they who are too arogant & stupid to reaize that middle America sees this and resents it, ON TOP of disagreeing with their extreme liberal views.

Hahaha! These DUmmies just do NOT "get it" - which is why they will keep on losing...

Around here it's the post office or in my shop if you're male.

And BTW, why do the oh so intelligent DUmmies have so much trouble with grammer?

There are many of these websites devoted to people who raise cattle and I am sure the chicken breeders and potato farmers have sites as well.

Not to put too fine a point on the astonishing ignorance of DUmmies, but I recall that the computer magazines of at least a decade and more ago loved to run stories about microcomputers being used on family farms.

Those stories were a refreshing foil to the boring coverage of VisiCalc and VisiPlot being used in urban accounting firms.

Personally, I once freelanced a story about a chain of 100+ Midwest convenience stores (owned by a dairy company) and how they were going to network all of their store microcomputers to the central office, which was pretty innovative at the time (maybe 1992/93).

Because they are taught by liberal teachers.

What you need to know about Republican suburbanites. They have a gated community mentality. They have blocked out the world, so it no longer plays a role in their daily lives. It they can't see it, it doesn't exist.

**************

It seems more likely that Democrats would live in gated communities than Republicans. After all, Republicans have guns.
