[Nobody (or I at least dont think so) is agaisnt the elections in Iraq. This is probably one of the only good things that have happened so far.]
"One of the only good things"? You mean, like rebuilding the infrastructure, in spite of terrorist activities? Reopening hospitals and schools? Building new security forces from scratch? Turning over sovereignty to the Iraqis earlier than expected? The writing of an interim constitution? 25,000,000 people freed from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein? A dangerous lunatic, no longer free to acquire [more] WMD and finance and train terrorists who could easily cause terrorist acts within the USA, just by crossing our borders? [Pssst! Look in Syria for the "missing" WMD]. Other dictators in the region sitting up and taking notice, and reevaluating their own positions re: support of terrorism and developing WMD?
Yeah, this whole Iraq thing has been a real "failure", all right.
{The only trouble with that is that the election was bush's idea. And he has never been demonstrably successful at anything important in his life.
[Except for winning the Presidency TWICE.]}
Not to mention the governorship of Texas TWICE, the first time against a popular incumbant. These people haven't learned yet, have they? One underestimates this President at his/her own peril. But fortunately for us, they just continue to be...well...DUmmies!
[Yeah. The Iraqis were better off giving 99.9% of their vote to Saddam Hussein in open and honest elections as opposed to this stagecrafted election.]
Good response, PJ. The DUmmies apparently missed the comments from the Iraqis who said that under Saddam, they went to the polls and their ballots were already marked for them. This is the first time they have been given a real choice.
Did you ever wonder what happened to the .1% who didn't vote for Saddam?
{I am happy for the brave people of Iraq who faced off the insurgents and who had enough nerve to trust the security of their lives in the hands of an occupying force. For sure this was a victory AGAINST the insugents, if not a total victory for the Iraqi people. And that's GOOD thing.
[LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]}
I have to comment that I am encouraged and amazed at the bravery of the Iraqi people, who not only defied the terrorists to go to the polls, but continue to proudly wear that indelible ink that probably continues to make them a target.
This should make many in our own country very ashamed. What threats do we face when we go to the polls? Rain? Long lines? Butterfly ballots? The Iraqis had very complex ballots because of the number of candidates. Did we hear any of them complaining? No. They were just thrilled to finally have a real voice.
You got it, Madam.
All these people took real risks, real hazards, in going out to vote--the polls could have been blown up by a suicide bomber, or riddled with machine-gun fire, for all they knew.
And here in America, we have those who griped and complained and whined and moaned and carried on, because they had to wait a few minutes to vote, and were not given a comfortable recliner-chair on which to sit, and a cup of coffee and a doughnut, while waiting their turn.
[They will be using tabulation computers. Completely hackable.]
{Bush will carry Iraq, mark my words.}
OK, thanks for the Coke that I just sprayed all over my monitor on that one. :-)
[Tell these people we did it for the oil! ]
Yeah, and we're really seeing great benefit from all that Iraqi oil we "stole". Have the DUmmies seen the price of gas lately?
[what is it with 100,000?]
Good question. I've been wondering the same thing.

That's right. And I forgot to mention the elderly Iraqis whose relatives or friends or neighbors WHEELED them to the polls in wheelbarrows.

[PNAC=Project for the New American Century
The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle; and that too few political leaders today are making the case for global leadership.]
HORRORS! No WONDER the DUmmies think PNAC is EVIL! EVIL, I tell ya!
Well, if you can't get a publisher go for Broadway. Dummie Funnies the Musical. Also, they have another "I Believe" thread up again.
[I watched people on TV today that had no teeth]
{Helen Thomas and Molly Ivins were doing analysis?}
CHARLES! You really MUST stop doing this! Either that, or I need to stop drinking things when I read your posts. Coke on the white top this time. Where's my Spray n' Wash?
[Also, did you hear that CNN sent a reporter to an empty school building, to report on the election turnout, and then got caught, because that school building was not a polling place? (When they were forced to set up shop at a real polling place, they had to report the obvious; that it was jampacked full of Iraqis waiting to vote.)]
No, I hadn't heard about that, but I sure wouldn't put it past them to pull something like that.
BTW, didn't our guys set up a few decoy "polling places" to see who might pull up and wire the doors (or whatever)?
And you know that it's all Bush's fault that DUmmie Faye can't hold a job, right? I mean, isn't he supposed to see to it that she gets just the job she wants, with just the right manager, and just the right hours, and just the right pay level, and all holidays off, and...and...and...
Seeing Senator Flippy the Turncoat on Meet the Press reminded me how grateful I am that this man is NOT our President!!!!
Geez! Where is Captain Hyperbole when we need him? Nurse, come quickly! The patient is hyperventilating!
Nope. Bill Kristol is actually quite conservative. More conservative than President Bush, I believe.
[They have to hold onto their little fairytales, so we should encourage them. "Supreme Court to select Iraqi government"]
Oh, someone PLEASE do that! And make sure the item says that the vote was 5-4. That should resurrect the old "clown-face" pictures in a hurry.
