Quoting Faye here:
"..waitressing jobs are very demanding. they expect you to work ALL holidays and the expect you drop everything to come in and work when they need you. diners and bar/grill managers are assholes. to most of them you are easily replaceable and they usually won't give you any slack.
besides that, i HATE dealing with the public when it comes to customer service. i'm surprised i never spit in someone's food yet. customers can be such assholes man."

Guessing most customers like getting SERVICE as opposed to anti-Republican vitriol. She's right about one thing: jerks like her ARE easily replaced.

That's the DUmmie "Faye" to a tee, sir; everything, all things, at her pleasure and convenience, and to Hades with the needs of anyone else. The world does not rotate on an axis, to which DUmmie "Faye" must adapt; the way she sees it, the world should rotate around.....her.

I was "scouting" DUmmieland earlier today, and found these nuggets, although I am sure P.J. has found better ones.

I don't think I said that right--I meant join us on the right; if you STAY on the LEFT, you will lose your freedom, etc.

Free yourself and move to the right! There, that's better!!

And let's have on: make the terrorists an EXTINCT species!

Don't worry I understood and I was agreeing with you. But the fact is that we're never going to trade our freedom and our families for some pretend security.

In fact Americans will never stop fighting for right, freedom, and America.

Agreed, sir.

However, your monicker inspires a question, not necessarily related to this thread.

In my lifetime (which has been about 50% spent in Nebraska), I have always noticed that among the veterans, and the ones still in the military services, who were born and raised in Nebraska--a land-locked state, 1500 miles away from any sea-coast--about two-thirds of them were, or are, in the Navy (and the very best of them, in the Marines).

It seems very peculiar, that people born and raised far away from great bodies of water, would prefer a sea-faring duty; might you have any illumination as to why this is, sir?

You are right, there is no fake security worth trading our families and our rights for.

Never give up and never give in.

Semper Fi.

Pro-artificial turf and Pro DH?

How could you?

That goes against everything that is holy!

Faye is a real "winner" (or is that whiner?).

While I was trolling there, she would always call me out.
I actually told her I had a split personality and she left me alone.

Yeah, pro-artificial turf and pro-DH. I think both add more offense to the game, and I certainly dispute that they are unholy (I prefer the spearation of church and baseball).

As for how many days until pitchers and catchers report, it's too many as far as I'm concerned. :)

My wife and I were registered demoncrats. Almost 20 years ago, some demoncrat lady came to the door asking to register us, and being fairly oblivious to politics, we said... "OK, what the hey!" We were so non-political we didn't even vote in the next election after that!

Probably about a year or two after that, I was channel surfing on the radio and accidentally ran across Rush Limbaugh. I usually didn't even listen to AM, but I was just checking to see if there was something interesting on the dial. I don't remember what he was talking about, but... I couldn't believe he was saying the things he was saying "out loud" on the radio. I thought... HOLY COW!! This guy's gonna get tossed for shooting his mouth off about that!

After listening for a while, I just kept thinking... "Damn straight!! He's definitely right about that!" Only took one show to hook me. Someone was finally saying what I thought and I couldn't believe it!

Within the year I figured out that my wife and I were Republicans, changed our registrations and have voted every time ever since! We actually owe our political participation to Rush, if it wasn't for him, I don't know if I would have started to pay attention. Now I listen to everyone and barely ever even listen to music anymore!

shrill (shrl)
adj. shrill·er, shrill·est
1. High-pitched and piercing in tone or sound: the shrill wail of a siren.
2. Producing a sharp, high-pitched tone or sound: a shrill fife.

Example (quoted from DUmbass 'patsified' on the DU thread "Iraqi Voter Turnout Placed at 72%"):
"Was this worth destroying the United States of America? Was this worth sending our nation tumbling into the toilet? Was this worth destroying our reputation and the worth of our word in the world? Were the lies worth it? Was this worth the billions and billions of dollars emptied from our nation's treasury? Was the enrichment of Halliburton and the Carlyle Group worth it? Was this worth the bloodshed of soldiers and of innocents? Was it worth losing your arms, little Ali? Was there NO OTHER WAY to have achieved this? Am I supposed to jump up and down and clap and dance and cry for joy that MY nation has been turned into a shitpile and everyone in the world hates MY nation now? There is no democracy here in America, but I am supposed to be overwhelmed with good cheer that it exists for the Iraqis?"

Someone hand me my ipecac, I feel dizzy...

My name is a function of serving with my beloved Corps for 21 years over the course of more than 40 years (I was in and out several times whenever the Corps needed an old hand). Hence the "Old".

You have a point about the Navy and Marines coming from landlocked states. More Marines come from West VA, Tenn, and Texas than any other states. Many of our best naval heroes also came from interior states like Chester Nimitz from Texas, Joe King from Ohio, and Ray Spruance from Illinois. Perhaps its the desire to travel and see the world.

I myself come from New York thereby hurting your theory slightly. However if you were to ask me what is the main reason someone joins the Marines I'd say its in your blood. I'm a third generation Marine. My grandfather was a Marine as was my father. Further evidence is that two of my sons are also Marines. It's in the genes so maybe guys like me just can't help ourselves.

Or just maybe a guy joins the Marines to fight America's enemies and wants to do it with the best. There's something very satisfying about looking back over my life and thinking of all the tough days I helped give the bad guys.

Thank you, sir.

The other thing I have noticed about Naval and Marine veterans in Nebraska, is that they manage to keep "in shape" far longer than their peers from the other armed services.

Where one usually finds a balding pate, there is a headful of thick, luxurious hair; where one usually finds a protuberant pauch, there is usually a ramrod-straight waistline.

Two of my favorite friends are ex-Marines--they are a couple in their early 60s, but she at least looks no older than circa 35 years--they were both "careerists," and had some sort of "intelligence" positions.

My, my. How and why would anyone develop such a pathetically horrible view of the world?

Better a fat farmwife with a pleasant countenance, than a "sex-bomb" whose facial features are contorted, distorted, with Hate, Fury, Rage, and Anger.

Well stated -- case in point:
