As for the "Sentinel" label, we actually had another offer from a not-so-major publisher, but Sentinel IS Penguin, and their marketing is not "quarantined." I'm not concerned at all about the label, only about sales. We reached #450 on Amazon last Sat, before falling back into the 2000s. Still, Amazon numbers are slippery---for example, if you buy 10 copies of one book on Amazon, it only counts as one "scan." So a person selling books is better off getting 10 different people to buy one book than one person buying 10.
That said, the first week's sales numbers astonished the publisher, and Mike and I are thrilled. It has not even begun to take off yet. I will be at C-PAC signing books and possibly even doing a panel with Mr. Woods, our competitor. We also will be hitting the history associations later this spring and in the fall.
