Two Saturday sessions - Feb. 5 & 12.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) will offer a hunter education class in Colorado Springs specifically for women and girls. The course will be divided into two Saturday sessions on Feb. 5 and Feb. 12.
Sessions run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the DOW office at 4255 Sinton Road. Participants must attend both sessions to receive hunter education certification.
Many women have told us they are interested in becoming sanctioned to hunt in Colorado but are worried about feeling uncomfortable in a hunter safety class with mostly men and boys, said District Wildlife Manager Trina Romero.
Women who attend the class will learn about outdoor survival, wildlife identification, hunter ethics, gun safety, wildlife management, hunting regulations and more. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued a hunter safety card and be certified to hunt in Colorado.
The class will be offered free of charge, and the DOW will furnish all required equipment and materials. The course will be open to all women and girls over the age of 10.
Class size is limited. Women interested in attending should contact Trina Romero at (719) 227-5284

Great.... Next thing you know they will want to vote too...

I don't live in Colorado, but that is a good idea. As a Pilot, there are several seminars for spouses who don't fly.

I don't get offended if you want to be removed.
That is wonderful- knowing how to operate a firearm is like knowing how to drive-- if you are ever in a situation where having such a skill might save your life, it's too late to learn it on the fly-- you need to know what to do before the need arises.
All the women in my family can shoot- some are accomplished hunters or skeet shooters, some just like to pop varmints or cans. But none of them will sight a weapon and go "Oh! Eek! An evil gun! Mercy me, what am I to do?"
One of my treasured pictures is my Mom, from about the time I was born-- young, pretty and strong, standing on a dock with a double-barreled shotgun in one hand, and a brace of bloody ducks in the other. That was dinner!
BTTT!!!!!!!
The only gun I ever had a problem with was a 1917 44 revolver. It was flat to big for my hand. It also had a tendency to drop, I kept hitting the same spot in the dirt though.
