NO MORE PROPERTY TAX?: Bret Schundler is back -  running for Governor in New Jersey  - and this time he is loaded for bear! With bold new ideas and a vision for New Jersey residents that the Garden Staters have not seen in recent memory - "State Government without corruption"...

Schundler sat down with the
Kevin McCullough Show  on Monday...

KMC: Bret Schundler welcome back to the Kevin McCullough Show...
BS: Thank you its a real pleasure to be on...
KMC: First of all let me express my regrets in not being able to join you at your recent kick-off...had I not been on a plane that day I would have been there with bells on...
BS: Well I very much appreciate you having me on today...
KMC: Sure...
BS: It was a great kick-off we packed in about 1300 people, we had Peggy Noonan, Steve Forbes, and one of your fellow radio industry guys Curtis Sliwa...
KMC: Well if you couldn't have us - I guess Curtis will have to do...
BS: ...made for a good stand in.
KMC: You're putting New Jersey on notice, on your blog, and I am happy to see that you have a blog - I think it will be avery useful tool for you come the end of this next year...but you're putting New Jersey on notice that "New Jersey is not for sale!"...why should the residents believe a politician when the ruling democratic party has made this the mode of operation for years now?
BS: What we're going to focus on is getting New Jersey residents to take back control of their government, and the way we're going to do that is not to trust politicians when they promise to fix problems after the election but rather demand that reforms be put into place before the election...for instance Kevin...the number one issue tax-payers want right now is for more of their state tax dollars to come back to their local schools, local municipal government to replace the need for property taxes. People would like to see their property taxes eliminated in New Jersey. Now what the state has been instead has been using all of the revenues coming in from economic growth to build a bigger and bigger state government. And state politicians - not surprisingly - want to put more and more people on their payroll and grow their personal patrongage empire. But that's not what the people want. So what we are saying to the people is "help us draft what we call property tax elimination amendments". These are amendments that would take the dollars that come into the state treasury each year as a result of economic growth and send it back to our communities where we have a higher and higher percentage of our local community school and municipal cost and eventually eliminate the need for property taxes all together. And that would put some speed limits on the pace of Government spending controls.
KMC: ...so you are making a case for the elimination of  property taxes all the way around...
BS: Exactly right, it won't happen overnight - but if we start putting these reforms in place...every community will recoup more of the economic growth benefits...and instead of growing a larger and larger state government, we can instead begin to fun more school and municipal costs at the local level...over time you eliminate property taxes totally, it doesn't raise the state income taxes, and there are no cuts in benefits to current programs...but what you really do is take away the ability of politicians to build a bigger and bigger state government.
KMC:...sure...
BS: THE PEOPLE OF NEW JERSEY don't want a bigger state government and we DO WANT lower property taxes...
KMC:...now THAT makes sense...

With Schundler getting out in front on this issue and being bold enough to push this huge idea (elimination of property taxes) he immediately appears more Gubernatorial and takes on the clear image of a reform leader. New Jersey is in desperate need of reform and will be looking at the best ways to implement it...

Drying up the taxfund - cesspool that Trenton has gotten drunk on seems a logical and accountable way to bring it about.
