Illegal Immigration and the Bush Bashing.
Dec/17/04 | jveritas

Posted on 12/17/2004 8:33:59 AM PST by jveritas

In the last few weeks so many threads have been posted on Free Republic regarding the illegal immigration issue. Many of the posters on these threads are not there to discuss the illegal immigration issue in a constructive and logical way, but they have been savagely bashing President Bush and spewing their despise toward him, as bad if not even worse than the most rabid left wing liberals.

The illegal immigration issue is an important discussion forum that we need to debate on FR, but the style and the content of the debate as appeared in many posts have been filled with a despicable hatred toward President Bush.

Many who disagree with President Bush illegal immigration issue are “True Conservatives” and “Faithful Republicans”, but they do it in a constructive criticism rather than hateful speeches. On the other hand, the perpetrators of these hateful posts are the Buchananites and the 3rd party voters.

Illegal immigration is a vital issue that our nation needs to deal with. President Bush has suggested the “Guest Worker Program” which is in some ways a “practical” and “effective” solution to address some but not all of the problems of the 10-15 millions illegal immigrants in the US. However the President still does not address in a clear way what are the effective measures that we need to take to strengthen the control of the Southern borders, and prevent new waves of illegal immigrants coming to the country everyday through the Mexican borders. Also what must be urgently addressed is the abuse perpetuated by many illegal immigrants of states and federal welfare programs. The Guest Worker Program must be very clear that immigrants who are employed under this program are not entitled to welfare help, period.

Now the extreme fringe on FR, want to use the most radical and the dumbest ways to solve the illegal immigration issue. The wackiest of their wacky ideas, is to deport all the illegal immigrants. What a great solution! What this fringe do not take comprehend is that deporting 10 to 15 millions illegal immigrants, require that the states and the federal law enforcement agencies must hire tens of thousand of people and must spend tens if not hundred of billions of dollars to do it, and it will not work. Make no doubt about it that the media will be abusing these scenes of deportation thousand folds than anything they have used and abused in the past. The vast majority of the Americans will not accept days after days of images and videos of the millions of illegal immigrants being put in buses and deported. The courts will be tied up in ten of thousands of cases regarding deporting illegal immigrants and this will cost ten of billions of dollars as well. Eventually, these extreme radical and illogical measures will create a tremendous backlash that will destroy any honest effort to fix the illegal immigration problems.

Another delusional idea to resolve the illegal immigration issue is to heavily fine the businesses who hire illegal immigrants and by doing so these immigrants will return back home because no one is hiring them. WOW! Another genius solution! This idea is as moronic as the deporting the millions of illegal immigrants because it requires tens of thousands of new law enforcement agents and tens of billions of dollars, plus it will be played very badly in the arena of public opinion. Furthermore a very strong sector of the business community will fight it to death and they will not let it happen, period.

In conclusion there is only one logical and practical solution to resolve the illegal immigration problem. Legalize the illegal immigrants via a guest worker program, and at the same type stop new and future waves of illegal immigrants by strongly controlling and tightening the Southern borders.

Enough with the hate Bush threads disguised under the illegal immigration issue. Let us discuss this important issue in an honest, smart, logical and constructive way and let us stop the irrational hateful posts.

You should calm down and think before you type. You do more harm than good with your rhetoric. Take that energy and run a search engine for articles and legislation that refutes one of jveritas' claims.

I have to live with thousands of that illegal garbage every day. They have turned Southern California into a human sewer!

Getting rid of the illegals is the most important issue facing this nation and i'm not talking only about the 80% that are from Central and South America, it's all of them! Attack the employers and eliminate social services and they will leave or starve to death, I don't care which!

Agree.

We either regain control, or lose this country.

Thousands pouring in illegally, every day, is a poison recipe for utter disaster, that we are all being forced to eat.

Few posters blamed the President only. Most know it's been going on at least since 1986.

The 1986 immigration reform law is delusional? Please provide a reference stating that it no longer prohibits hiring ILLEGAL aliens. TIA.

Why would we need billions of dollars to ID and prosecute violators? The SSA's suspense file of bogus and stolen SSNs comes complete with employer ID on the statement of earnings. There are mechanisms in place to handle enforcement. The will is lacking. Starting with these thousands of employers in the agriculture, hotel and restaurant, and unskilled services industries would at least be a start.

You did provided an answer as to why we are no longer a nation of laws. We do not enforce laws if there is a "very strong sector" of men against enforcement. Thanks. I've been wondering about that.

What good does it do to respond to this thread's poorly reasoned ad hominem rant with rants of your own?

He is hoping to tar people who are concerned about illegal aliens as nothing but raving nutjobs and Buchananites. Why would you want to assist him?

"Guest workers" to help pay boomers' Social Security benefits?

Are you forgetting the totalization agreements with Mexico? (with more on the way)

California and other states need to be able to go back to round ups inside cities like Santa Ana.
When the INS/border patrol did that, illegals were scarce.
Doing this would get the word out and you would have far less of them using public services.

Here in CA it was estimated that illegals use over 9 BILLION of our public budget yearly.
We are taking out bonds to cover debt of 15 billion over 30 years.

I think we need to have NO illegal drivers licenses and no short cuts for legal residency for those that cheat.

I think something has to be done on a Federal level about us having to educate non-citizens that are illegal.
My position is that unless their home of origin wants to send payment for that, that they can do instead long distance schooling through the mail from their homelands and get credit for home. That is it.

Unless legally here, there should be no birth certificate as an American citizen for the parents of illegals.

They should have no access through their illegal activities to citizenship for themselves or their born children.
They should also have no access to anything from publics funds like education.

If they break a leg, go to the emergency, then deport them.

RE: How are you going to enforce the current employement/tax laws. HOW?

I've read through repy 20.

I've posted info on what the government already has, the SSA suspense file. I won't repeat it here but that's HOW to get a good start.

How are you going to find out who are the ten of thousands of employers who are employing illegal immigrants? How many ten of thousands of NEW law enforcement agents are going to go from town to town from city to city from street to street to find these employers that are hiring illegal immigrants?

How is it possible to get 15 million people registered in a guest worker program but yet impossible to enforce the existing laws?

It can be done using existing databases, and President Bush already has a voluntary nationwide program in place that allows employers to verify worker eligibility with a phone call. David Dreier has introduced legislation to make the program mandatory.

Do you oppose them?

Very good point!

You can bet, as the ILLEGALS keep coming or the guest worker declines to leave, it will be "impossible" to enforce the new laws -- or so Washington will tell us. It is their wont.

I'm afraid you're right. Have you ever noticed how politicians will categorized something as "broken"? I believe legal immigration probably needs to be looked at in order to lessen the time it takes for legal immigration into the US. On the other hand, IMHO, the biggest problem about illegal immigration doesn't have much to do with a "broken system" as an overwhelming lack of interest/action on the part of our elected officials.

On this issue the President has earned our ire. He has wontonly refused to enforce the law of the land per his oath of office.

Isn't that a significant issue to you?

"Presidents, regardless of party, face constant pressures from the Left -- from the Big Brother government, neofascist, high tax, property-confiscating liberals, from the econazis and global warmists, from the pro-abortionists, from those who are pro-one world and anti-American and from those who advocate cradle-to-grave socialism. (Have I left anyone out?) And, unless there are constant counter-pressures from those on the Right who believe in small government, low taxes, America first and individual liberty, presidents, under Left-wing pressure, tend to drift that way." --Lyn Nofziger

Have you ever told a child to do something and been ignored?

What did you do? You raised your voice a bit and repeated the instructions? Correct?

There is a bunch of us on FR who have been using blaster microphones to get your attention that the President and his Cabinet have been doing absolutely jack shit about the illegal alien invasion.

Close your eyes, push your ear plugs in further and put on a headset. Possibly you will find the 'peace and relaxation' you are looking for.

When reality kicks you hard enough to knock you out of your comfortable chair and actually jars your headset off, sucking your earplugs out do not be surprised if everyone around you is speaking a foreign language.

I know you consider yourself a fine Republican and a true patriot. have you ever read mark Twain's writings?

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and your government when it deserves it!" - Mark Twain

When your government only contributes to the problem of allowing awbreakers to violate the law and your political party is in charge of the government, IT DOES NOT DESERVE THE SUPPORT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!

Many honest businessmen have been hurt by the dishonesty of the illegal hirers. In communities everywhere, I'd bet they know who employs these lawbreakers. Calling iNS is fruitless. Why should dishonest businessmen get off scott free? (Well, some won't, as RICO suits are springing up.)

We're obviously dealing with people that are incapable of carrying on any meaningful discussions. Just like the DUmmies, Moveon.org, and DailyKos, they'd rather spew their hatred and anger instead of trying to carry on civil discourse.

Then again, look at the stuff they post. Some want every Mexican in the U.S. rounded up and put into camps while others want the U.S. to expend its nuclear arsenal on every Spanish speaking country on Earth. These are people who worship at the alter of Pat Buchanan, a man who has basically denied the Holocaust and blames all the worlds problems on the "JOOOOOOOOWS".
