Illegal Immigration and the Bush Bashing.
Dec/17/04 | jveritas

Posted on 12/17/2004 8:33:59 AM PST by jveritas

In the last few weeks so many threads have been posted on Free Republic regarding the illegal immigration issue. Many of the posters on these threads are not there to discuss the illegal immigration issue in a constructive and logical way, but they have been savagely bashing President Bush and spewing their despise toward him, as bad if not even worse than the most rabid left wing liberals.

The illegal immigration issue is an important discussion forum that we need to debate on FR, but the style and the content of the debate as appeared in many posts have been filled with a despicable hatred toward President Bush.

Many who disagree with President Bush illegal immigration issue are “True Conservatives” and “Faithful Republicans”, but they do it in a constructive criticism rather than hateful speeches. On the other hand, the perpetrators of these hateful posts are the Buchananites and the 3rd party voters.

Illegal immigration is a vital issue that our nation needs to deal with. President Bush has suggested the “Guest Worker Program” which is in some ways a “practical” and “effective” solution to address some but not all of the problems of the 10-15 millions illegal immigrants in the US. However the President still does not address in a clear way what are the effective measures that we need to take to strengthen the control of the Southern borders, and prevent new waves of illegal immigrants coming to the country everyday through the Mexican borders. Also what must be urgently addressed is the abuse perpetuated by many illegal immigrants of states and federal welfare programs. The Guest Worker Program must be very clear that immigrants who are employed under this program are not entitled to welfare help, period.

Now the extreme fringe on FR, want to use the most radical and the dumbest ways to solve the illegal immigration issue. The wackiest of their wacky ideas, is to deport all the illegal immigrants. What a great solution! What this fringe do not take comprehend is that deporting 10 to 15 millions illegal immigrants, require that the states and the federal law enforcement agencies must hire tens of thousand of people and must spend tens if not hundred of billions of dollars to do it, and it will not work. Make no doubt about it that the media will be abusing these scenes of deportation thousand folds than anything they have used and abused in the past. The vast majority of the Americans will not accept days after days of images and videos of the millions of illegal immigrants being put in buses and deported. The courts will be tied up in ten of thousands of cases regarding deporting illegal immigrants and this will cost ten of billions of dollars as well. Eventually, these extreme radical and illogical measures will create a tremendous backlash that will destroy any honest effort to fix the illegal immigration problems.

Another delusional idea to resolve the illegal immigration issue is to heavily fine the businesses who hire illegal immigrants and by doing so these immigrants will return back home because no one is hiring them. WOW! Another genius solution! This idea is as moronic as the deporting the millions of illegal immigrants because it requires tens of thousands of new law enforcement agents and tens of billions of dollars, plus it will be played very badly in the arena of public opinion. Furthermore a very strong sector of the business community will fight it to death and they will not let it happen, period.

In conclusion there is only one logical and practical solution to resolve the illegal immigration problem. Legalize the illegal immigrants via a guest worker program, and at the same type stop new and future waves of illegal immigrants by strongly controlling and tightening the Southern borders.

Enough with the hate Bush threads disguised under the illegal immigration issue. Let us discuss this important issue in an honest, smart, logical and constructive way and let us stop the irrational hateful posts.

All that's needed now that it's gotten out of hand is a cloak of legality to be fitted over it to force citizens to STFU.

That's what this is all about.

How about knocking off the name-calling and flamebait. It's obvious that you have no solution to the problem, else you'd not be posting this garbage. Hanging out the welcome mat for even MORE illegals is hardly the answer, yet that seems to be what Mr. Bush means to do. Kicking out the illegals or having them self-deport when there are no jobs and no welfare bennies for them, while perhaps extreme to your ilk, IS doable. Yes it will cost money... but it would save billions more for the ERs that would not have to close, welfare rolls that could be cut dramatically and jobs and wages that would be once more open to AMERICANS who want to work. Why is this such a problem for you??? What benefit do YOU derive from illegals being in the country?

You have it just bass-ackwards... must be you're dyslexic or something. Sanctions FIRST, then a guest-worker program that does NOT include current illegals. Otherwise we will (again) be overrun. You have been told about the massive increase in illegal alien traffic after Bush even MENTIONED amnesty; though that was not what he called it, that was explicitly what was told to the folks in Mexico and they started flocking here again, to get in position to take advantage of it. YOU are delusional if you think that this will not happen even more so if such a program passes and sanctions do NOT come first.

Yes I am dyslexic or something, you got me here.

Get real people, all your delusions about deporting 15 millions illegal immigrants will not work. They tried it in the 50's and they failed, what will make it work now?

I missed the start of this thread (I was away from FR for a few days), but I wanted to congratulate you on trying to inject a little rationality into this discussion. I think it's an important matter, and I think Bush deserves credit for addressing it (which no other president has really dared to do for a long time), and I think FR discussions could be helpful. But the hysteria and - I hate to say it - sheer anti-Mexican hatred of some folks here have turned these threads into nothing but flame wars. I suspect they have also provided cover for DU anti-Bush trolls, who love to spread wild rumors and get uninformed conservatives all riled up.

BTW, one of the big reasons for the death of the migrant labor program was LBJ's desire to pave the way for Cesar Chavez's farmworkers union. It was your basic Democrat union pay-back. Or maybe pay-off.

Here's an idea, why don't you get out of the way while the adults deal with the illegal alien scurge.

That way you won't hinder our progress.

Thank you.

We should not allow Free Republic probably the most intelligent conservative and political discussion forum on the internet to be hijacked by a minority of radical fringe whose goal is to spew their anti-Latino racism and brutally attack President Bush under the cover of discussing illegal immigration. As I mentioned in my earlier post this is a very important issue and President Bush is presenting the Guest Worker Program solution that is not complete yet but never the less it is a solution based on logic, facts, and practicality. We still need to ensure the other half of the solution which strongly strengthening the borders to prevent new wave of illegal immigrants.

Deporting 10 to 15 million illegal immigrants is just plain stupid, delusional, and unpractical.

I will not get out of the way of the delusional people on FR who thinks that they can resolve the illegal immigration issue by deporting the millions of illegal immigrants.

Illegal means illegal. And we most certainly can resolve it by not only deporting them but punishing those who hire them severely and removing any access to social programs that they currently have.

They are parasites and the only way to deal with parasites is to get rid of them.

You and your illegal loving ilk would love to be able to convince the 80% of Americans that want the illegals gone that it can't be done. The fact, however, is that not only can it be done but it will be done. Whether you like it or not.

Illegal immigration is a national problem and ought to primarily be the jurisdiction of the federal government. As head of the federal government's executive branch, it's Bush who gets to feel the heat.

If he were doing something about the problem, there would be no criticism as it is. So he's getting the heat he deserves.

While you are long on derision for those whose opinions differ from those of you and your toadies, you seem to be a bit light in the loafers when it comes to providing substantive answers to issues raised and specific questions asked of you. I wonder why that is? So you need not respond to me until you re-read mu posts and can respond to the specifics of them.
